    Overview

    The FIBARO Door/Window Sensor (FGBHDW-002) is a HomeKit-enabled Hall effect sensor using Bluetooth® Low Energy technology. Along with detecting opening/closing, it measures ambient temperature. Opening is detected by separating the sensor's body from its magnet; tampering is detected whenever the accessory is detached from its mounting surface or its casing is opened.

    To control this HomeKit-enabled accessory, iOS 9.3.5 or later is recommended. Controlling it automatically and away from home requires an Apple TV with tvOS 9.2+ or an iPad with iOS 9.3+ set up as a home hub.

    Powering the Accessory

    1. Open the cover.
    2. Remove the battery blocker.
    3. The accessory glows blue for 1.5 seconds — it is ready to be paired.
    4. Close the cover, paying attention to the correct orientation of the cover and sensor's body.

    Note: If the accessory blinks three times after powering it, it is already paired and must be reset before pairing again.

    Pairing the Accessory

    1. Open the Settings app on your iOS device.
    2. Go to the Bluetooth® section and turn Bluetooth® on.
    3. Place the accessory next to your iOS device.
    4. Open a HomeKit-compatible app of your choosing.
    5. Open the pairing window in your HomeKit app to detect available accessories.
    6. Choose the Door/Window Sensor you wish to pair — it will triple-blink blue to identify itself.
    7. Find the HomeKit Setup Code (format XXX-XX-XXX) on the last page of the Quick Start Guide included in the box.
    8. Start pairing and either point your iOS device's camera at the Setup Code to scan it, or enter it manually.
    9. If the code is valid, the device completes setup. Follow the remaining instructions in the app.

    Keep your HomeKit Setup Code in a safe place — you may need it again for re-pairing.

    Physical Installation

    1. Check that the sensor and magnet surfaces are clean.
    2. Carefully remove one protective layer from the double-sided stickers included and apply them to the sensor and magnet.
    3. Peel off the remaining protective layer from the sensor and magnet.
    4. Stick the magnet onto the moving part of the door/window, no further than 5mm from the sensor, with the vertical line marks aligned.

    Reset

    Restores the accessory to factory defaults, including HomeKit pairing:

    1. Open the cover.
    2. Press the button 3 times, then press and hold the button.
    3. Wait for the LED indicator to glow.
    4. Release the button.
    5. Click the button to confirm.
    6. The accessory glows blue for 1.5 seconds to confirm reset.
    7. Delete the accessory from the app before pairing it again.

    Functionalities

    • Opening/closing detection: Detected via Hall effect sensor and reported to your iOS device. A state change is indicated with one blink.
    • Tamper detection: Detected whenever the accessory is detached from its surface or the casing is opened, indicated with two blinks and reported to your iOS device.
    • Temperature measuring: Ambient temperature is measured every 10 minutes; if it changes by at least 1°C (1.8°F) since the last report, the accessory reports it to your device.
    • Battery level measuring: Battery level is checked every 24 hours and reported. If below 15%, a low battery status is reported immediately.
