Step-by-step guide for creating Z-Wave device associations with the Fibaro Dimmer 2 (FGD-212) using the Fibaro Home Center system.

    Overview

This guide walks through associating multiple Fibaro Dimmer 2 modules so a single wall switch can control several lamps at once. Example scenario: three lamps in a long hallway, each wired to its own dimmer and switch. The goal is to associate all three dimmers so that holding one switch dims all three lamps together.

The Fibaro Dimmer 2 supports two independent association groups — Group ID: 1 and Group ID: 2 — triggered by key 1 and key 2 of the wall switch respectively, allowing two different association behaviors from a single two-button switch.

    Step-by-Step: Creating an Association

Home Center dashboard with settings icon highlighted on Lamp 1
    1. In the Home Center dashboard, click the settings (wrench) icon on the lamp whose switch key the other lamps will be associated with.
Device settings page with Advanced tab highlighted
    2. On the device's settings page, click the "Advanced" tab.
Advanced tab showing association Group ID 1 and Group ID 2 with Set Up buttons
    3. Click "Set Up" for the association group you want to configure — Group ID: 1 (key 1) or Group ID: 2 (key 2).
Devices list popup with checkboxes to select devices for association
    4. In the Devices List popup, tick the checkboxes for each device to be associated (e.g. Lamp 2, Lamp 3).
Save association by clicking the disk icon
    5. Click the disk (save) icon to save the association.
Confirmation notification that device settings were saved
    6. Home Center processes and sends the association commands to all associated devices. The association is active after about 1 second, with a confirmation notification shown on-screen.
