Setup guide and troubleshooting for the Evolve ShowerStart TSV — a water-saving showerhead valve that automatically reduces flow to a trickle once your shower water reaches a comfortable temperature, so you're not wasting hot water while you wait.

    How ShowerStart Works

    1. Turn on the shower. Cold water exits as usual.
    2. ShowerStart kicks in. Once the water reaches approximately 95°F, flow automatically reduces to a trickle.
    3. Ready when you are. Pull the cord to resume full flow and begin showering.

    What's in the Box

    • ShowerStart TSV valve
    • Pull cord
    • Plumber's tape
    • User guide

    Installation

    1. Stretch plumber's tape clockwise, tightly, around the screw threads on the shower pipe. This creates a solid seal to prevent leaks.
    2. Hand-tighten the ShowerStart TSV clockwise onto the shower pipe, ending in the preferred position.
    3. Stretch plumber's tape over the exposed threads on the TSV the same way you did in step 1, then hand-tighten your showerhead onto the TSV.

    Maximize Your Savings

    • Rotate the shower's faucet to the hottest setting available when turning it on — this lets the shower reach warm temperature in the shortest time.
    • Return to the shower as soon as possible once the trickle begins, to avoid the valve resetting.

    Troubleshooting

If the showerhead won't resume normal flow after pulling the cord:

    1. Try pulling the cord again. The water may have already been warm, or someone may have recently showered — either can place the head in trickle mode.
    2. Check for a blocking washer. A washer from a previous showerhead may be blocking flow. Remove the showerhead and inspect the valve where it connects to the shower pipe — if clear, you'll see a mesh screen around a copper stem. Remove any obstruction and reinstall.
    3. Check your water pressure. Static water pressure below 30 psi (common in homes with low pressure or well water) will prevent proper function — the valve requires at least 30 psi static pressure.

    Important Safety Information

    • ShowerStart TSV is NOT an anti-scald device. Lower your water heater temperature to prevent scalding — water above 120°F can cause severe burns or death.
    • Always resume water flow and check water temperature before entering the shower.
    • Not designed for use with tankless hot water heaters.
