User manual for the Enbrighten Z-Wave Plug-In Smart Switch (Model ZW4106 / 55249) — a plug-in outlet with two Z-Wave controlled AC receptacles for remote on/off control.

Getting to Know Your Device

• Two Z-Wave controlled AC outlets for LED, CFL, incandescent, and halogen lights, as well as small appliances
• Remote ON/OFF control via the Z-Wave controller
• Manual ON/OFF control with the top-mounted push button
• Space-efficient design; does not block the lower outlet when plugged into the upper outlet of a duplex wall receptacle (assumes the duplex receptacle is mounted with the ground pin down)
• Plugs and cords for connected devices route to the side, allowing close placement of furniture
• Grounded 3-wire power connection for safety
• Advanced configuration features adjustable only by a Z-Wave-enabled controller that supports the Z-Wave configuration command class — see www.ezzwave.com/config for the full list

Total load capacity for both outlets must not exceed 600W (5A) incandescent, 1800W (15A) resistive, or 1/2HP motor. Both outlets are controlled together and cannot be independently controlled.

Device Layout

• A — Z-Wave controlled outlets: Both outlets are controlled together and can remotely turn ON/OFF the connected device(s)
• B — Manual/program button: Single press turns the connected device(s) ON/OFF; single press also adds/removes the switch from the Z-Wave network
• C — Cycle LED light: Acts as a guide light or status indicator. Press the program button 10 times quickly to cycle through options:
  1. LED is ON when the load is ON (default)
  2. LED is ON when the load is OFF (guide light in the dark)
  3. LED is always OFF
  4. LED is always ON

Basic Setup

1. Plug the desired device into either Z-Wave controlled outlet on the smart switch
2. Plug the smart switch directly into an available grounded outlet (top outlet recommended if possible) — do not use with extension cords

The manual/program button on the smart switch allows the user to manually turn the connected device(s) ON/OFF (press and release), and to add/remove the smart switch from the Z-Wave network. You have complete control to turn devices ON/OFF according to groups, scenes, schedules, and interactive automations programmed by your controller. If your Z-Wave controller features remote access, you can also control devices from your mobile devices.

Adding to a Z-Wave Network

1. Follow the instructions for your Z-Wave certified controller to add the smart switch to the network
2. Once the controller is ready to add the switch, press and release the manual/program button on the smart switch
3. If prompted by the controller to enter the S2 security code, refer to the QR code / security number on the side of the box or the QR code label on the product, and enter the 5-digit PIN code

Note: SmartStart-enabled products can be added by scanning the QR code on the product with a controller that provides SmartStart inclusion — no further action is required, and the product will be added automatically within 10 minutes of being switched on in the network vicinity.

Removing / Resetting the Device

1. Follow the instructions for your Z-Wave certified controller to remove a smart switch from the network
2. Once the controller is ready to remove your smart switch, press and release the manual/program button

To return the switch to factory defaults:

1. If plugged in, unplug the smart switch from the receptacle
2. Press and hold the program button for at least three seconds while plugging the smart switch into a receptacle

This should only be used if your network's primary controller is missing or otherwise inoperable.

Z-Wave Interoperability

This product can be included and operated in any Z-Wave network with other Z-Wave certified devices from other manufacturers and/or applications. All non-battery-operated nodes in the network act as repeaters regardless of vendor, increasing network reliability. This device supports Association Command Class (3 groups):

• Association Group 1 supports Lifeline, Switch Binary Report
• Association Group 2 supports Basic Set and is controlled with the local load
• Association Group 3 supports Basic Set and is controlled by double-pressing the button
• Each Association Group supports 5 total nodes

Safety Warnings

• Risk of fire, electric shock, and burns. To reduce risk of electric shock, this product has a grounding plug with a third (grounding) pin — it will only fit into a grounding power outlet. If the plug does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.
• Caution: to reduce risk of overheating and possible damage to other equipment, do not exceed ratings. Do not use to control any device where unintended operation could cause unsafe conditions (heat lamp, sun lamp, etc.)
• Not for use with medical or life-support equipment. Z-Wave enabled devices should never be used to supply power to or control the ON/OFF status of medical or life-support equipment.

Warranty

Jasco Products Company warrants this product to be free from manufacturing defects for five years from the original date of consumer purchase.
