Overview

The Enbrighten 58433 (model ZWA4011ENB) is a Z-Wave in-wall smart switch designed to convert any smart control into a multi-location switch. It supports single-pole installations or 3-way/4-way wiring configurations using up to four add-on switches (model 46199/59339). The switch is compatible with all incandescent and CFL/LED bulbs, features auto line/load detection, and includes an interchangeable paddle (white and light almond included in the package).

⚠ Safety Warnings

• Risk of fire, electrical shock, and burns. Do not exceed ratings. Do not use to control any device where unintended operation could cause unsafe conditions (heat lamp, sun lamp, etc.). Do not use to control receptacles. For indoor use only.
• Not for use with medical or life-support equipment. Z-Wave enabled devices should never be used to supply power to or control the on/off status of medical or life-support equipment.
• Turn OFF power to the branch circuit for the switch and lighting fixture at the service panel before wiring. All wiring connections must be made with the power OFF to avoid personal injury and/or damage to the switch.
• Installation must comply with the National Electric Code and local regulations (US) or the Canadian Electrical Code and local regulations (Canada). If unsure or uncomfortable performing this installation, consult a qualified electrician.

Important Load Limits

The fixture controlled by this switch must not exceed 960W incandescent, 1800W (15A) resistive, or 1/2HP motor. The switch is designed only for use with permanently installed fixtures.

Wiring Terminals

Use 14AWG or larger wire suitable for at least 80°C for line (hot), load, neutral, ground, and traveler connections. Strip insulation 5/8 in. (16mm) for attachment using the enclosure's holes. UL specifies a screw tightening torque of 14Kgf-cm (12lbf-in). This switch is rated for and intended to only be used with copper wire.

Single-Switch Installation Steps

1. Shut off power to the circuit at the circuit breaker or fuse box. Verify power is OFF before continuing.
2. Remove the wallplate, then remove the switch mounting screws and carefully remove the existing switch from the box (do not disconnect the wires yet).
3. Match the screw terminals to the wires connected to the existing switch.
4. Disconnect the wires from the existing switch, labeling them according to their previous terminal connections.
5. Connect the green or bare copper ground wire to the GROUND terminal.
6. Connect the black wire from the light to either LINE/LOAD terminal, and the black wire from the electrical service panel (hot) to the other LINE/LOAD terminal.
7. Connect the white wire to the NEUTRAL terminal (use a jumper wire if needed). The traveler terminal is only used for 3-way/4-way wiring and should remain unused in a 2-way (one switch, one load) system.
8. Insert the switch into the switch box, being careful not to pinch or crush the wires. The switch must be mounted independently, vertical position only. Secure the switch to the box with the supplied screws.
9. Mount the wallplate.
10. Reapply power to the circuit at the fuse box or circuit breaker and test the system.

Multi-switch (3-way/4-way) wiring: refer to the add-on switch (model 46199/59339) manual. Connecting the traveler terminal of this switch to a standard add-on switch (rather than a properly wired 46199/59339) will cause damage or improper function — do not connect the traveler wire or apply power until add-on switches are correctly installed.

Basic Operation

The connected light can be turned ON/OFF two ways: manually from the front panel rocker switch (press top for ON, bottom for OFF), or remotely via a Z-Wave controller.

Status LED / Guide Light

The LED below the switch acts as a guide light or status indicator. Cycle through options by pressing up three times and down once quickly:

1. LED is ON when the load is OFF (guide light in the dark) — default
2. LED is ON when the load is ON (indicates the switch is ON)
3. LED is always OFF
4. LED is always ON (illuminates switch in the dark)

Changing the Paddle Color

1. Lift the air gap tab at the base of the paddle.
2. Push side tabs in on one side and then the other to release the paddle. Lift the cover up and off.
3. Put the new paddle onto the switch by inserting the air gap and side tabs and snapping securely into place.

Adding to a Z-Wave Network

1. Follow the instructions for your Z-Wave certified controller to add a device to the network.
2. Once the controller is ready to add your device, press the top or bottom of the wireless smart switch (rocker).

You have complete control to turn your fixture ON/OFF according to groups, scenes, schedules, and interactive automations programmed by your controller. If your controller supports remote access, you can control your fixture from mobile devices. If prompted for an S2 security code, refer to the QR code/security number on the box or the QR code label on the product; enter the 5-digit PIN.

SmartStart: SmartStart-enabled products can be added to a Z-Wave network by scanning the QR code with a controller that provides SmartStart inclusion — no further action required; the product is added automatically within 10 minutes of being switched on in the network vicinity.

Removing / Resetting the Device

• To remove: follow your Z-Wave controller's instructions to remove a device from the network, then press the top or bottom of the switch when prompted.
• To reset to factory defaults: quickly press ON (top) three times, then immediately press OFF (bottom) three times. The LED will flash ON/OFF five times when completed successfully. Only use this if your network's primary controller is missing or otherwise inoperable.

Z-Wave Interoperability

This product can be included and operated in any Z-Wave network with other Z-Wave certified devices from other manufacturers. All non-battery-operated nodes in the network act as repeaters regardless of vendor, increasing network reliability. This device supports the association command class (3 groups):

• Association Group 1: Lifeline, Binary Switch Report
• Association Group 2: Basic Set, controlled by pressing ON or OFF with the local load
• Association Group 3: Basic Set, controlled by double-pressing ON or OFF

Each association group supports up to 5 total nodes.
