ElkRM Remote Management Software — Release Notes

Release notes for ElkRM Remote Management Software — the PC-based touchscreen/PDA control application for Elk M1 Gold security and automation panels. Documents feature additions and bug fixes across versions 1.2.4 through 1.2.12.

Overview

ElkRM is companion software for the Elk M1 Gold Control that runs on a PC, Pocket PC, or touchscreen and provides remote management of security, lighting, climate, video, and audio functions. Software updates are pulled automatically over the internet — click the M1RM logo in the top-left corner of the RM screen, open the "Comm Setup" tab, and select the UPDATE button. ElkRM will log onto Elk's FTP site and update itself.

Ver. 1.2.12 — May 7, 2007

• Added AUDIO support for Russound equipment: AM/FM Tuner, Satellite Radio (XM/Sirius), CD Player, 5/6 Disk CD Changer, SMS3 Media Server, and iPod
• Added Audio and Links setup to the ElkRM Setup Utility (Ver. 1.1.6)
• Changed the button-press sound to a new beep.wav file

Note: Links are now set up using the ElkRM Setup Utility and stored in a Links.xml file — links previously saved in the ElkRM/Links folder are no longer used. After updating to 1.2.12, you'll be prompted to erase the old Links folder.

Ver. 1.2.10 — November 29, 2006

• Added VIDEO to the feature list
• Added confirmation dialogs ("Are you sure you want to...") when clicking Synchronize or Update
• Fixed a Climate bug affecting setpoints below 10°C when in Celsius mode
• Fixed a socket-handling bug where sockets weren't fully closing, eventually exhausting the M1XEP's maximum connections and causing it to stop responding

Files changed/added: ElkRM.exe, ControlBar_Skin.gif (video button added), Video_Skin.gif (pan/tilt/zoom control graphics), PTZ.xml (holds pan/tilt/zoom CGI commands)

Notes: RM_Setup.exe was added to the install package for camera setup (requires .NET Framework 2.0, runs on a PC, optional install). It creates a Default.xml file holding the camera configuration. When updating from an earlier version to 1.2.10, run the update twice — on the second pass, choose YES when asked to update skins, to ensure the latest skin files are applied.

Ver. 1.2.8 — July 19, 2006

• Added new lighting sliders for a more user-friendly lighting page
• Replaced the toggle-style lighting buttons with dedicated on/off buttons

Ver. 1.2.6 — April 18, 2006

• Fixed incorrect indexing of lighting status for banks above 0 in the ASCII protocol
• Fixed scrambled screens on PDAs with higher-DPI displays (fonts were too large and covered other controls)
• Added keypad beep and chime sounds, stored as Beep.wav and Chime.wav in the ElkRM folder — substitute your own sound by backing up the original (e.g. rename to Beep.org) and renaming your replacement file to Beep.wav
• Added controls for adjusting backlight and sound volume when running on a touchscreen
• Removed the settings-page tab selection control, which had caused erroneous results on a Pocket PC

Original application release — official first release of ElkRM.
