Configuration guide for ElkConnect® — the mobile app and cloud portal used to configure Elk's E27 Alarm Engine® security/automation controller.

    About This Guide

This guide provides a basic overview of configuring the E27 Alarm Engine using the ElkConnect app and portal. Refer to the Alarm Engine Knowledge Center for detailed configuration instructions.

    Getting Started — Checklist

    • ElkConnect cloud portal account: E27 controls must be registered and assigned through the ElkConnect cloud portal. Complete the ElkConnect account application before proceeding.
    • ElkConnect app: download it for Android or iOS (search "ElkConnect" on Google Play or the App Store). It's used to configure the E27 Alarm Engine.

    Connecting to the System

    1. Ensure the E27 control is connected to a network with internet access.
    2. Launch the ElkConnect app and log in with your Installer username/password (same as your elkconnect.com credentials).
    3. A list of E27 controls associated with your installer account will display with MAC addresses and system names — locate and tap the desired control to connect.
    4. When prompted for a PIN, enter the default installer code: 1728.
    5. ElkConnect establishes a connection and displays the Home screen, showing area status, arm state controls, emergency alarm activation, and chime on/off toggle. (If connecting via Wi-Fi, refer to the ELK-AEWF instructions for next steps.)

    Configuring the System

Tap the menu icon in the upper-left corner to access configuration menus. Tap a text field, button, or toggle to change it, then tap SAVE at the bottom and confirm with OK to apply changes to the E27 control.

    Sensors / Zones / Inputs

    1. Choose Sensors from the menu — the Zones screen lists all zones with current status.
    2. Tap a zone name to open Sensor Details and configure the sensor's name, definition, and other attributes.
    3. By default, all main board zones require a 2.2k ohm end-of-line resistor. To change hookup type (e.g. normally open/closed), choose Main Board I|O from the main menu.
    4. Tap Inputs to expand — Inputs 1–16 display their hookup type and assigned zone name.
    5. Tap the Hookup Type button for the input to change, select the new type, and tap OK. Repeat as needed.
    6. Tap SAVE to push changes to the E27 control; tap OK on the confirmation prompt.

    IP Reporting (Central Monitoring Station)

    1. Choose CS Reporting from the main menu > Priority > tap Disabled next to Primary > choose IP > OK.
    2. Tap Report Categories to expand, then toggle individual reportable events/categories on or off.
    3. Tap IP and Cell Configuration to expand and enter the Central Monitoring Station's IP receiver info.
    4. Enter the Account ID, IP Address, Port, and DNIS as provided by the Central Monitoring Station (also provides encryption/supervision values if required).
    5. It's strongly recommended to enable periodic test signals — expand Testing, set Days Between Tests, and set the Test Time.
    6. After making changes, tap SAVE, then OK to confirm.
    7. Test the communicator settings: tap TEST COMMUNICATOR CONNECTIONS, tap OK on the start prompt, and verify the CS received the test signal.

    Areas

    1. Choose Areas from the main menu — a list of areas displays. Tap an area to view/edit its configuration.
    2. Add a new area by tapping the + icon in the upper-right corner.
    3. Configure Area name, entry/exit delay times, alarm sounder settings, etc. from the Area details screen, then tap SAVE at the top and OK to confirm.

Changing or Adding a User Code

    1. Choose Users from the main menu — a list of users displays.
    2. Tap a user to view/change settings. The code is hidden (••••) — tap the un-hide icon to view it.
    3. Tap the existing code to open a number pad, clear it, and enter a new 4-digit code, then tap the check/enter button. Tap SAVE, then OK to confirm.
    4. To add a new user: tap the + icon in the upper-right corner, enter a User Name and 4-digit code, select a User Group, then tap SAVE and OK to confirm.

Important: It's strongly recommended to change the default installer and user code values from their factory defaults.

    Performing a Walk Test

    1. After completing system configuration, it's strongly recommended to perform a walk test to verify each sensor in an area.
    2. Choose Areas from the main menu, tap the area to test, expand the testing section, and tap Begin Walk Test.
    3. A list of sensors assigned to the area displays with test status and a tested/total count.
    4. Exercise each sensor and verify it registers correctly. Tap Cancel when finished.
