    September 08, 2026 2 min read

Instruction manual for the ELK-912 Compact Relay — a 12V DC SPDT relay for general purpose alarm and automation switching.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Instruction manual for the ELK-912 Compact Relay — a heavy-duty 12 Volt DC SPDT Form "C" relay for general purpose switching, with wiring diagrams for common alarm-output hookup scenarios.

    Application

The ELK-912 is a high quality 12 Volt DC relay featuring SPDT Form "C" heavy duty dry contacts, low current draw, and positive or negative activation. It's ideal for general purpose switching tasks such as floodlight activation, high-current siren/bell switching, and interfacing alarm control panel outputs to loads that exceed the panel's native output rating.

    Features

    • Heavy duty contact rating
    • Form "C" contacts, SPDT
    • Low current draw
    • Positive or negative activation
    • Great for general purpose switching
    • Small, compact size
    • Includes double-sided mounting tape
    • Packed in reusable poly storage box
    • Lifetime limited warranty

    Specifications

    • Operating Voltage: 12 Volts DC nominal
    • Current Draw: 30 milliamps
    • Minimum Pull-in Voltage: 9 Volts DC
    • Diode protection across relay coil
    • Contact Ratings: 7 Amps @ 30 Volts DC, 10 Amps @ 125 Volts AC
    • Size: 1.1" x 1.55" (28mm x 39mm) each

Available as the ELK-912 (single) or ELK-912-12 (12-pack).

    How It Works

Power terminals power the relay coil (12V, 30mA) and connect to the trigger output. Relay contacts: COM and N/C are connected when the ELK-912 is off (no trigger); COM and N/O are connected when the ELK-912 is on.

    Hookup Examples

    • Positive-Output Control Panel: Connect the "-" terminal of the ELK-912 to the control's ground terminal. Connect the "+" terminal of the ELK-912 to the positive alarm output.
    • Negative-Output Control Panel: Connect the "+" terminal of the ELK-912 to the control's +12V terminal. Connect the "-" terminal of the ELK-912 to the negative alarm output.
    • Alarm-Activated Floodlight: The floodlight activates whenever the control panel is in alarm, wired through the relay's contacts to 120VAC.
    • High-Current Bell or Siren Switch: Use the ELK-912 to switch a high-current siren or bell from a separate 12V power supply, since the control panel's native output can't drive it directly.
