    The ELK-6022 Wireless Universal 3-Zone Sensor secures up to 3 openings using Elk's industry-leading two-way wireless technology with on-demand status updates, extended range, and long battery life. It provides a built-in reed switch plus 2 auxiliary terminal inputs (LP1 and LP3), and works with wireless transceivers/controls supporting Elk's two-way technology such as the ELK-M1XRFTW.

    Application

    The 6022 transmits a unique TXID identifier plus one of 3 Loop numbers — one for each input zone. The control uses the Loop number to determine which input is assigned to which wireless zone.

    Enrolling from the M1 Keypad (Installer Programming)

    1. Enter M1 Keypad Installer Programming and navigate to Menu 14 – Wireless Setup.
    2. Press right arrow, scroll up to Sub-Menu 3: Learn Sel WirelessTransmtr.
    3. Press right arrow, then scroll or select an unused/available wireless zone (WZone).
    4. Press right arrow to Lrn (enroll) a new sensor.
    5. Insert the battery into the 6022 as soon as the keypad prompts "Push Transmitter Button" for that zone. If the battery is already installed, remove it, wait 5 seconds, then re-insert.
    6. On successful enrollment, the keypad chimes and briefly displays the 6-digit TXID code. If the TXID doesn't display, remove the battery, wait 5 seconds, re-insert, and repeat.
    7. Rapid-Enroll auto-advances to the next wireless zone in sequence — simply repeat the battery re-insertion step for each additional sensor.
    8. To use external zones LP1 or LP3, the 6022 must be enrolled again separately for each — it's recommended to enroll all 3 zones (built-in reed, LP1, LP3) in sequence, removing/re-inserting the battery between each enrollment. The TXID will be identical across all three since they're the same physical sensor.
    9. End Rapid-Enroll after all sensors are enrolled by pressing the ELK key once.
    10. Set the Loop Number — critical on the 6022. Scroll to the wireless zone and press the left arrow to see the 9-digit TXID followed by "Loop=". Press right arrow and set Loop to 1 (external LP1), 2 (built-in reed), or 3 (external LP3) depending on which input is used.
    11. Set Supervision — for wireless burglar sensors, set to 1 = Normal "Burg" (factory default). Access via the ELK key, Sub-Menu 2: Xmit Transmitter Opt.

    Note: M1 only allows Zones 17–160 for wireless zones (max 144 wireless sensors). The M1XRFTW wireless range must start at Zone 17 (Group 2); the last wireless zone cannot exceed Zone 160 (Group 10). Zone Definitions (name, zone type, options) are set via Menu 5.

    Enrolling from ElkRP Software

    1. Launch ElkRP and open the desired Customer Account file.
    2. If no wireless zones exist yet, create a group of 16 wireless zones: right-click Zones (Inputs) → New Wireless Zones → check the desired group → OK. Repeat for additional groups as needed.
    3. Double-click the new Wireless Group, then double-click each zone to define name, type, and options.
    4. From Folders, double-click Wireless Setup to enroll the sensors:
      1. Click the Transmitters tab, double-click a zone.
      2. Check the "Enabled" box.
      3. Set Supervision type: 0 = Non-Supervised (keyfobs), 1 = Normal "Burg" Supervision, or 2 = Fire Supervision.
      4. Enter the Sensor TXID from the printed label on the sensor into the TXID box.
      5. Set the LOOP box: 1 = external LP1, 2 = built-in reed, 3 = external LP3.
      6. Click Save. Repeat for each additional wireless zone/sensor.

    External Zones (LP1 / LP3)

    To use the external zones, remove the small breakout slot in the baseplate, then connect wires from normally-closed (N/C) sensors to the terminals marked LP1, COM, and LP3 (COM is shared between zones). Normally-open (N/O) contacts may alternately be connected by enabling Option 2 under Menu 14, sub-menu 2: Xmit Transmitter Opt. Per UL, no external contact may exceed 3 feet from the sensor.

    Mounting

    Always pre-test the sensor in its intended location prior to permanent mounting. Avoid metal mounting surfaces where possible — metal can negatively affect wireless operation. Observe temperature/humidity specs; do not use in high moisture/humidity areas. Adhesive tape cannot be used for UL Listed installations.

    1. Remove the baseplates from the sensor and magnet by inserting a small flat screwdriver tip in the end slot.
    2. Enroll the sensor into the control and transceiver.
    3. Test the sensor at its intended location prior to mounting.
    4. When ready to permanently mount, use the supplied adhesive pads or #4 flathead sheet metal screws (screws strongly recommended when using the tamper option). Align the marks on both baseplates and ensure the maximum gap does not exceed 1/2".
    5. To use the case/wall tamper option, insert the rubber actuator into the post near the center of the baseplate. Tamper auto-enables when the sensor is snapped onto the baseplate; it can only be disabled by removing the battery and actuator, then re-powering the sensor without the actuator present.
    6. Attach the sensor and magnet to their baseplates without pinching any wires from the LP1/LP3 terminals.

    Applying Self-Adhesive Mounting Tape

    1. Clean all surfaces of grease, dirt, etc.
    2. Hold tape with pink surface toward you, bend at one corner, grasp and remove the pink backing.
    3. Grasp the remaining clear backing with the adhesive facing down and align edges over the back of the sensor.
    4. Gently rub down the tape to the sensor back.
    5. Remove the clear backing just prior to mounting.
    6. Hold the sensor in place for several seconds for a strong bond — full bond strength may take up to 24 hours.

    Operational Testing (LED Feedback)

    A two-color LED behind the plastic cover (front and center) gives feedback each time the sensor is violated or restored. May be difficult to see under direct sunlight.

    • GREEN blink — signal successfully transmitted and acknowledged by the transceiver.
    • RED blink (CAUTION) — the sensor was unable to communicate with the transceiver after multiple attempts. Likely too much distance, or the transceiver is off-line/powered off. Troubleshooting: verify the transceiver's status LED is blinking; walk to another sensor and test it to confirm the transceiver works; if it does, temporarily relocate/re-test the failed sensor closer to the transceiver. If that succeeds, either relocate the transceiver to a more central location or install an additional remote transceiver to cover that area.

    Battery Installation & Replacement

    A low battery signal is reported to the control when the sensor battery needs replacement.

    1. Remove the sensor cover by inserting a small flat screwdriver tip in the end slot.
    2. Observe correct polarity when installing the new battery — do not bend or damage the metal battery holder leafs. Approved batteries: 3V Lithium Panasonic CR123A, Duracell DL123A, Varta CR123A, or Sanyo CR123A.
    3. Test sensor operation with the panel.

    Battery warning: Risk of fire, explosion, and burns. Do not attempt to recharge or disassemble. Do not incinerate or expose to heat above 212°F (100°C). Dispose of used batteries properly and keep away from children. Never reverse battery polarity.

    Limited Warranty

    The ELK-6022 is warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 2 years from date of manufacture. Batteries used with wireless devices are not warranted. Refer to Elk's website for the full warranty statement.
