Installation and programming manual for the ELK-319PIRW Wall Mounted Wireless PIR Sensor.
Installation and programming manual for the ELK-319PIRW Wall Mounted Wireless PIR Sensor — a supervised passive infrared motion sensor with pet immunity, compatible with Elk's 319MHz receivers/panels and other 319.5MHz panels using the ITI/Interlogix protocol.
The ELK-319PIRW is a supervised wireless PIR (passive infrared) motion sensor designed for wall-mounting. It detects movement by sensing infrared energy emitted from a body as it moves across the sensor's field of view. When motion is detected, the sensor transmits an alarm signal to the control panel; it also sends tamper, hourly supervisory, and low battery signals. Powered by one (1) replaceable 3VDC lithium battery.

Use a screwdriver to push the latch at the bottom of the sensor, then lift up on the cover from the bottom to remove it. For flat wall mounting, use the keyhole-shaped holes in the base. For corner or 45-degree mounting, drill open at least 2 of the holes in the base (left and right side depressions).
General guideline for enrolling the sensor — for more extensive instructions refer to your receiver or panel manual.
Set Jumper JP2 per the diagram on the circuit board.
The ELK-319PIRW is designed to allow pets up to 22 lbs. to move through its field of view without triggering an alarm, using a special micro-element lens array that produces stronger optical signals for humans than for smaller pets. Pets vary widely — some pets, especially larger ones with short hair, may generate enough infrared radiation to cause alarms even if under 22 lbs. Users are strongly encouraged to test the sensor with their own pets to verify it won't false-alarm.
To conserve battery life, the sensor has an automatic 3-minute sleep-mode lockout between transmissions. To perform a walk test, open the sensor cover and enable the LED (set Jumper J1 to the "LED" position). Replace the cover and walk across the monitored area within the sensor's field of view — the LED should turn on after 2 to 4 normal steps. Stop and wait 12 seconds before continuing; when there's no motion, the LED should remain off. It's recommended not to leave Jumper J1 in the LED position long-term, since excessive walk-test use reduces battery life — use it only for initial setup and maintenance.
Battery life depends on how often the sensor transmits and the environmental temperature. The sensor sends a low-battery indication to the panel when battery voltage is low — replace it as soon as possible with a Panasonic CR123 3V battery.
Caution: Battery may explode if mistreated. Do not recharge, disassemble, incinerate, or expose to heat above 212°F (100°C). Keep away from children. This sensor's lithium battery is not rechargeable or reusable — dispose of it according to local hazardous waste disposal laws.
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules, providing reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This device complies with Industry Canada license-exempt RSS standard(s). In accordance with FCC requirements for human exposure to radio frequency fields, the radiating element must be installed with a minimum separation distance of 20cm from the general population.
