    Application and programming manual for the ELK-6010 Wireless Two-Way Keychain Remote (FOB) — a 4-button keychain remote that can arm/disarm an M1 alarm system, query system status, and trigger programmable events like panic alarms or relay activation.

    Overview

    The ELK-6010 displays confirmation of transmitted commands as well as M1 system status via a two-color (Green/Red) LED indicator. Its 4 buttons can trigger up to 6 defined events, programmable from the M1 Keypad (Wireless Setup > Keyfob Definitions menu) or ElkRP Software. It is compatible with Wireless Transceivers using Elk's "RFTW" two-way technology, such as the ELK-M1XRFTW. Each button press sends a unique TXID identifier to the transceiver and then listens for acknowledgement.

    Note: All buttons require at least a ½-second press duration to avoid accidental activation; some buttons require even longer holds (see button table below).

    Button (Key) Functions — Factory Defaults

    #1 Yellow [LOCK] Key Momentary Arm-Away (definition 0027). LED illuminates RED once armed. If a recent alarm wasn't cleared, it takes 2 presses to arm — the first acknowledges the alarm and illuminates GREEN.
    #2 Green [UNLOCK] Key Momentary Disarm (definition 0029). LED illuminates GREEN once disarmed. If an alarm is active, first press silences it; a second press acknowledges the alarm and prepares the control for re-arming.
    #3 Blue [i] Short press (½ sec) triggers a status inquiry: GREEN = Disarmed, RED = Armed, Flashing RED = In Alarm (Memory), Blank = Out of Range. Optional: hold 4 sec to trigger programmable definition 3 (default blank).
    #4 Red [Triangle] Optional: hold 2 sec to trigger programmable definition 4 (default blank) — well suited for a Panic alarm.

    There is also a per-wireless-zone option to convert buttons 1–4 to respond as buttons 5–8, allowing 2 different users to have their own 4 triggerable events.

    Enrolling from M1 Keypad Installer Programming

    1. Enter M1 Keypad Installer Programming and navigate to Menu 14 (Wireless Setup).
    2. Press right arrow, then scroll to Sub-Menu 3 (Learn Sel WirelessTransmtr).
    3. Press right arrow and select an unused/available wireless zone.
    4. Press right arrow to Learn a new sensor.
    5. Press and hold Buttons 1 and 2 (Lock and Unlock) together as soon as the keypad displays "Push Transmitter Button."
    6. Upon successful enrollment the keypad will chime and briefly display the 6-digit TXID code. If it fails, repeat steps 3–6.
    7. The Rapid-Enroll feature auto-advances to the next wireless zone; repeat step 5 for each additional keychain remote.
    8. To end Rapid-Enroll after all sensors are enrolled, press the ELK key once.

    Important: The Loop # setting does not matter for keychain remotes. Supervision must be set to 0 / NO — keychain remotes do NOT send supervisory check-in signals, since they are typically carried off-premises and out of range.

    Enrolling from ElkRP Software

    1. Launch ElkRP and open the desired customer account file.
    2. If no wireless zones exist, create a group of 16 wireless zones (right-click Zones/Inputs > New Wireless Zones). The M1XRFTW wireless zones must start at Zone 17 (Group 2); the last wireless zone cannot exceed Zone 160 (Group 10).
    3. Double-click on the new Wireless Group, then double-click each zone to define name, type, and options.
    4. From the Folders column, double-click Wireless Setup, click the Transmitters tab, and double-click a zone.
      • Check the Enabled box
      • Set Supervision type to 0 (Not Supervised)
      • Enter the Sensor TXID from the printed label on the sensor
      • Loop # does not matter for keychain remotes
      • Click Save; repeat for each additional zone/sensor

    Program the Zone Definition for a 6010 Keychain Remote as: 15 - Keyfob.

    Operational Testing

    1. The 6010 must be within range of the wireless transceiver.
    2. Place the M1 control in a Ready-to-Arm state by closing any open zones (or use Force Arm on zones programmed to allow it).
    3. Arm the control by pressing Button 1. The LED illuminates solid RED for a few seconds to confirm.
    4. Check status anytime by pressing Button 3 for ½ second: GREEN = Disarmed, RED = Armed, Blinking RED = In Alarm, No LED = Out of Range.
    5. Disarm by pressing Button 2. The LED illuminates solid GREEN to confirm.
    6. If programmed, test the Panic alarm by pressing and holding Button 4 for ~2 seconds — LED flashes RED.
    7. To acknowledge an alarm, press Button 2.

    Per UL, a complete test of the security system and all zones should be performed once a week (walk-tested via M1 Keypad Menu 3 — Walktest Area).

    Battery Test

    The 6010 has a non-replaceable battery. To test it without the transceiver, press and hold Button 2 for approximately 8–10 seconds:

    • Short GREEN blip = battery is good
    • Short RED blip = battery is low
    • No blip = battery is end-of-life (dead) — replace the 6010

    Battery Warning: Risk of fire, explosion, and burns. Do not attempt to disassemble. Do not incinerate or expose to heat above 212°F (100°C). Dispose of the used sensor and battery properly. Keep away from children.

    Troubleshooting

    If the ELK-6010 fails to display visual LED feedback, it is likely out of range of the transceiver. Other causes: (1) it is not properly enrolled, (2) battery is exhausted, or (3) the transceiver has lost power.

    The 6010 Wireless Keychain Remote is warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 2 years from date of manufacture. Batteries used with wireless devices are not warranted.
