  • ELK-45 — Self-Contained Electronic Siren Instructions

    September 08, 2026 2 min read

Installation instructions for the ELK-45 self-contained electronic siren with MilliMiser and ComboTrigger options.

    Full text manual (for reference)

The ELK-45 is a loud, self-contained electronic siren in a compact housing — small enough to fit in vents, attic eaves, soffits, and other tight spots where bulkier sirens won't. It draws less current than many competing sirens and can produce two distinct sounds from a single alarm trigger input.

    Features

    • Installer friendly — compact and easy to mount
    • Exterior / interior use
    • MilliMiser™ — lowers current draw for controls with limited alarm output power
    • ComboTrigger™ — lets controls with a single alarm output and pulsing option activate both burglar and fire alarm sounds
    • Pre-wired for easy installation
    • Removable "U" shaped mounting bracket
    • Lifetime limited warranty

    Specifications

    Spec Value
Operating Voltage 6 to 14 Volts DC
Current Draw 1.2 Amps (700 mA on MilliMiser™)
Sound Level 118 dB @ 1 meter, 14 Volts DC
    Size 4" x 4" x 3.5", depth 4"

    Installation

    1. Mount the "U" shaped bracket to the wall.
    2. Insert one of the two short bolts into each side of the bracket, threads protruding outward.
    3. Align the bolt heads with the slotted openings on each side of the siren housing.
    4. Slide the siren onto the bolt heads. Install a washer and nut on each bolt and tighten.
    5. Connect the Black wire to Neg (−) of the alarm output.
    6. Connect the Red wire to Pos (+) of the alarm output.

Adjusting Loudness / Current Draw (MilliMiser™)

The siren ships from the factory set for maximum loudness at about 1.2 Amps current draw. To lower the current draw and volume:

    1. Remove the four screws and cover from the back of the unit.
    2. Follow the Red speaker wire to where it solders to the circuit board.
    3. Cut this Red wire approximately 3" back from the board.
    4. Splice the Red wire from the speaker to the unused Yellow wire on the circuit board using the enclosed wire nut.

    ComboTrigger™ Wiring

The ELK-45 is designed for single-output alarm controls that use a STEADY output for Burglar or a PULSING output for Fire. For an alarm control panel with separate Burglar and Fire alarm outputs, connect the Red wire to each output and program one output for Steady (Burg) and the other for Pulsing (Fire). Connect the Black wire to Neg (−).

    Warranty & Support

The ELK-45 carries a lifetime limited warranty. Features and specifications are subject to change without notice.
