    Installation Instructions for the ELK-319PB1 Heavy Duty 1 Button Panic device, a wireless panic transmitter for police, medical, or other emergency alarm activation.

    Description

    The ELK-319PB1 is a wireless heavy duty 1-button panic device that transmits to an alarm panel when pressed. It can be used for police, medical, or other alarm activation. The device also transmits low-battery status as needed and is powered by a single replaceable 3VDC lithium coin-cell battery.

    Compatible with Elk's 319MHz Receivers/Panels, as well as many other panels operating on the 319.5MHz frequency that adhere to the ITI/Interlogix protocol.

    Programming (Enrollment)

    General guideline — refer to your receiver/panel instructions for complete details.

    1. Power up the device by pulling and removing the battery isolator tab.
    2. Place the panel into Program mode.
    3. Proceed to the WIRELESS SETUP menu.
    4. Select the appropriate zone/sensor location number.
    5. Start the panel's sensor Enroll process. When prompted to trip the sensor for learning, press the Panic Button. The panel should acknowledge the sensor via keypad display and/or audio alert. If enrollment fails, try repeating the process.
    6. Repeat for any additional wireless sensors, then proceed to zone programming to assign each sensor's zone definition.
    7. Exit programming mode when finished.

    Note: Tighten the bottom case screw after removing the battery isolation tab.

    Accessory Attachment Options

    There are three ways to carry the Panic Button:

    • Belt Clip — clips onto a belt or waistband for hands-free carry and easy access.
    • Wall Mount Bracket — used in conjunction with the belt clip; a wall or cabinet mounting bracket that lets the Panic Button attach to a fixed object while remaining removable for portability.
    • Lanyard Clip — used in place of the belt clip, lets the Panic Button hang from a lanyard (not included).

    Note: The belt clip must be installed on the panic device for it to fit into the wall mount bracket.

    Testing the Sensor

    All wireless sensors should be thoroughly tested after installation and programming.

    Wireless Testing

    Establishes a baseline for the distance the panic sensor will nominally operate away from the control or receiver.

    1. Place the panel into Walk Test mode.
    2. Monitor the keypad display while pressing the button. Some panels provide a signal strength indication.
    3. Walk away from the panel/receiver and test at various locations to confirm the panel acknowledges each press.
    4. Exit Walk Test mode when finished.

    Operational Testing

    If the alarm system is centrally monitored, always notify them before operational testing.

    1. Press and hold the panic button until the specific alarm reaction (audible or silent dial report) begins.
    2. Disarm the alarm panel to silence or reset the alarm.

    Battery Replacement

    Low Battery trouble is transmitted when the sensor's battery needs replacement. Replace the battery within 7 days of a low battery indication.

    1. Turn the device face down on a soft surface.
    2. Use a small Phillips head screwdriver to remove the three screws holding the case halves together.
    3. Slide the old battery out of its holder.
    4. Slide a new battery into the holder with the positive "+" side facing UP, away from the circuit board (the unmarked side should face down). Use only an approved 3.0VDC lithium battery, Panasonic or Varta model CR2450.
    5. Place the cover back on the device and tighten the three screws.
    6. Test-activate the device at least twice.

    Battery Warning: Risk of fire, explosion, and burns. Do not attempt to recharge or disassemble. Do not incinerate or expose to heat above 212°F (100°C). Dispose of used batteries properly. Keep away from children.

    Limited Warranty

    This wireless sensor is warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for 2 years from date of manufacture, excluding batteries (batteries used with wireless devices are not warranted). Manufacturer disclaims all other warranties to the extent permitted by law; some states do not allow exclusion of implied warranties.
