Installation and programming instructions for the ELK-319GB Wireless Glass Break Detector.
Installation and programming instructions for the ELK-319GB Wireless Glass Break Detector — a supervised, battery-powered glass break sensor compatible with Elk's 319MHz receivers/panels and other 319.5MHz panels using the ITI/Interlogix protocol.
The ELK-319GB is a supervised wireless glass break detector providing alarm, tamper, and low battery signal transmissions. Powered by two (2) replaceable 3VDC lithium batteries, it's compatible with Elk's 319MHz Receivers/Panels as well as many other panels operating on the 319.5MHz frequency that adhere to the ITI/Interlogix protocol.
| RF Frequency | 319.5MHz |
| Battery Type | Two (2) 3VDC lithium batteries (Panasonic CR123 or equiv.) |
| Tamper Switch | Front cover and pry-off detect |
| Range | 20 ft (6m) max, 4 sensitivity settings |
| Operating Temp | -14 to 122°F (-10 to 50°C) |
| Max. Humidity | 90% RH, non-condensing |
| Dimensions | 3.9" x 2.75" x 1.5" |
General guideline for enrolling the sensor — for more extensive instructions refer to your receiver or panel manual.
In normal operation, the red LED lights solid for 5 seconds whenever glass breakage is detected. When batteries are first installed, a 5-minute test mode is active, during which you can test microphone detection range by clapping or jingling keys. Test mode can be restarted for another 5 minutes by removing and reinstalling the batteries.
| Red LED | Condition |
|---|---|
| Slow flash (once per second) | Test mode is active |
| Rapid flash for approx. 2 seconds | Sound detected |
| ON solid for 5 seconds | Alarm (normal operation) |
DIP switches select sensitivity, which also affects detection range. Default setting is MAX.
| Sensitivity | Detect Range | SW1-1 | SW1-2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| MAX | 6M | OFF | OFF |
| MEDIUM | 4M | OFF | ON |
| LOW | 2.5M | ON | OFF |
| LOWEST | 1.5M | ON | ON |
Recommended mounting configurations include ceiling mounting for windows on adjacent walls, wall mounting for windows on the same wall, and wall mounting for windows on an opposite wall — avoid mounting between a window and curtains/louvers or in other obstructed locations.
Battery life depends on environmental temperature and how often the sensor transmits signals. The sensor sends a low-battery indication to the panel when it detects low battery voltage — replace both batteries as soon as possible.
Caution: Battery may explode if mistreated. Do not recharge, disassemble, incinerate, or expose to heat above 212°F (100°C). Keep away from children. Dispose of used lithium batteries according to local hazardous waste disposal laws.
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules, providing reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This device complies with Industry Canada license-exempt RSS standard(s). In accordance with FCC requirements for human exposure to radio frequency fields, the radiating element must be installed with a minimum separation distance of 20cm from the general population.
