    Overview

    The ELK-319DG is a supervised, wireless sensor designed for outdoor use on swing gates or doors. It can be mounted using the included screws, pipe-strap clamps, or plastic wire ties. When activated, the sensor transmits open (trip) or close (restore) signals to the panel, along with tamper, hourly supervisory, and low-battery signals as needed. It is compatible with Elk's 319 MHz receivers/panels as well as other panels operating on the 319.5 MHz frequency that adhere to the ITI/Interlogix protocol.

    Installation Guidelines & Mounting

    • Temporarily attach and test the sensor with the panel/receiver before drilling holes or permanently mounting.
    • Mounting on metal can negatively affect transmitting range and magnet-gap performance.
    • Install the sensor within 100 ft. of the receiver or panel.
    • Mount the sensor on the non-moving post or frame, and the magnet on the moving gate or door. On a double-acting gate/door, mount the sensor on the least-used side.
    • Mount at least 5 inches above the floor to avoid damage.
    • Align the magnet directly across from the top right edge of the sensor. The gap between sensor and magnet must not exceed 1".

    Mounting with screws: Remove the sensor cover, use the long screws to attach the sensor and magnet, and the short screw to secure the cover.

    Mounting with pipe straps or plastic ties: Use two adjustable pipe straps or ties for the sensor and one for the magnet; make sure straps/ties are tight so the sensor and magnet cannot slide apart.

    External contact: An external contact can be wired to the transmitter through the rubber grommet (max 50 ft.). Only one set of contacts — internal or external — can be used at a time; the internal reed switch can be cut out if using an external contact.

    Programming (Enrollment)

    1. Place the panel into Program mode and go to the Wireless Setup menu.
    2. Select the appropriate zone/sensor location number.
    3. When prompted to trip the sensor for learning: remove the sensor cover, remove the battery pull tabs to power up the sensor, then press and release the tamper plunger.
    4. The panel should acknowledge the sensor via keypad display and/or audio alert. If enrollment fails, press the tamper plunger again, or remove/reinstall the batteries.
    5. Repeat for additional wireless sensors, then assign each sensor's zone definition and exit programming mode.

    Testing

    All wireless sensors should be walk-tested after installation and programming. Place the panel in Walk Test mode, trip each sensor while monitoring the keypad display (some panels show signal strength), then exit Walk Test mode.

    Battery Replacement

    A low-battery trouble signal is transmitted when the sensor battery needs replacement — replace both batteries within 7 days of that indication. Remove the cover, slide out the old batteries, and install two new CR2032 (Panasonic or Varta) batteries with the positive "+" side facing up, away from the circuit board. Replace the cover, secure with the short screw, and test-activate the device at least five times.

    Battery warning: Risk of fire, explosion, and burns. Do not recharge or disassemble. Do not incinerate or expose to heat above 212°F (100°C). Dispose of used batteries properly and keep away from children.
