Installation, network inclusion/exclusion, and Z-Wave Plus technical reference for the Ecolink Flood/Freeze Sensor with Probe (FLF-ZWAVE5), Gen5.
Installation instructions for the Ecolink Z-Wave Plus Flood/Freeze Sensor with Probe (FLF-ZWAVE5), which detects flooding and freezing conditions and reports a tamper condition when the case is opened.
Key points: Controller inclusion/exclusion mode must be activated before starting the sensor's inclusion/exclusion. The sensor can only join one network at a time and must be excluded before joining another. The plastic pull tab must be removed to enable operation. The sensor auto-enters inclusion mode at power-up; exclusion follows the same procedure.
| State | LED Behavior |
|---|---|
| Device not included | Light breathing (slow blink) |
| Flood detected | Single LED blink |
| Freeze detected | Single LED blink |
| Case opened | LED remains on while open |
Factory defaults reset on network exclusion.
A low-battery notification is sent to lifeline nodes automatically when the battery is running low.
Package contents: 1 Flood Sensor with Probe, 1 Sensor Mounting Bracket, 2 screws for the bracket, 1 adhesive tape for the bracket, 2 screws for the probe, 1 adhesive tape for the probe.
Notes: The sensor can slide onto the mounting bracket in two orientations — for a secure fit, ensure the bracket's tab engages the back of the sensor. Determine bracket orientation before attaching it to a surface. Adhesive tape may damage some surfaces.

The sensor supports one Association group (Lifeline) with up to 5 nodes, receiving all flood/freeze, tamper, and low-battery notifications. It supports Network Wide Inclusion (auto-activated after a failed direct inclusion) and Wake-Up Notification, configurable between 1 hour and 1 week in 200-second steps — it also wakes on case-close to check for queued messages.
