    Installation Instructions

    1. Identify the location for the Z-Wave Plus Smart Switch.
    2. Remove the switch plate cover of the existing light switch. Save the screws for the next step.
    3. Remove the switch plate cover of the Z-Wave Plus Smart Switch with a flat head screwdriver and install the Smart Switch onto the existing light switch using the screws from step two.
    4. Make sure the orientation switch is in the upright position relative to how the Smart Switch is mounted.
    5. Install the 2 AA batteries provided in the package.
    6. Follow the Network Inclusion steps below.
    7. If the switch doesn't operate as desired, make minor tweaks to the rocking action by turning the two screw adjustment screws (indicated by red circles in the manual diagram).
    8. If the switch operates in an inverted state, toggle the orientation switch (red rectangle in the manual diagram) to reverse the behavior.
    9. Snap the cover back onto the Z-Wave Plus Smart Switch in the correct orientation.

    Network Inclusion

The switch must be added to a Z-Wave Plus network before use. Both the device and network controller must be in inclusion mode at the same time — refer to your controller's manufacturer instructions for initiating inclusion mode.

    1. Verify that your Z-Wave Plus controller is compatible with the Smart Switch.
    2. Put your Z-Wave Plus controller into add (inclusion) mode.
    3. Press the inclusion/exclusion button on the Smart Switch.
    4. The LED on the front of the unit will turn off if network inclusion is successful.

    Network Exclusion

    1. Put your Z-Wave Plus controller into exclusion mode.
    2. Press the inclusion/exclusion button on the Smart Switch.
    3. The LED will blink steadily if network exclusion is successful.

    LED Status

    LED Behavior Meaning
Blinking Device not included into a network
    On Device in Learn mode
Blink (during low power mode) Device in lower power mode, remote control off

Battery State: The switch alerts the user when batteries are low. While batteries are low, the switch cannot be operated remotely, but it continues reporting the state of the switch until batteries are fully depleted.

Factory Default: The device automatically factory-defaults when removed from a Z-Wave Plus network. Use this procedure only when the network's primary controller is missing or inoperable.

    Notes on Inclusion/Exclusion

    • Controller inclusion mode must be activated BEFORE starting sensor inclusion or exclusion mode.
    • The device can only be included into one controller network at a time and must be excluded from one network before joining another.
    • Exclusion mode on the switch follows the same procedure as inclusion.

    Z-Wave Plus Technical Information

This device implements Z-Wave Plus functionality, including Network Wide Inclusion — it can be included into the network over the mesh network, not just directly near the main controller. This mode activates automatically if regular inclusion is unsuccessful. All non-battery-operated nodes in the network act as repeaters regardless of vendor, increasing network reliability.

    • Command Class Basic: For backward compatibility, a Basic Set of 0xFF turns on the light switch; 0x00 turns it off.
    • Command Class Association: Two association groups of 5 nodes each. Group 1 (lifeline) sends Switch Binary Reports (0x00 off / 0xFF on). Group 2 sends Basic Reports (0x00 off / 0xFF on).
    • Device Classes: Generic Device Class GENERIC_TYPE_BINARY_SWITCH; Specific Device Class SPECIFIC_TYPE_POWER_SWITCH_BINARY.
    • Command Classes supported: ZWAVEPLUS_INFO (v2), VERSION (v2), MANUFACTURER_SPECIFIC (v2), POWERLEVEL (v1), BATTERY (v1), SWITCH_BINARY (v1), ASSOCIATION (v2), ASSOCIATION_GRP_INFO (v1), BASIC (v1), FIRMWARE_UPDATE_MD (v2).
