    Owner's manual and installation guide for the DynaQuip WaterCop Leak Stop+ — an automatic water shut-off system that detects leaks and closes the water supply valve to prevent damage.

    Quick Start

    1. Select an installation location for the valve, just upstream from the inlet of the water appliance, making sure the sensors can reach the ground.
    2. Using compression or solder fittings, install the brass valve into the inlet pipe.
    3. Mount the Leak Stop+ control box on the valve.
    4. Apply power to the Leak Stop+ control box.
    5. Place sensors in areas where water would begin to accumulate.
    6. Test and restore to ready status.
    7. Read the entire manual and save it for future maintenance reference.

    System Overview

    WaterCop Leak Stop+ detects water leaks in your plumbing system at a single location and automatically shuts off the water supply to that location. Early leak detection coupled with automatic water shut-off is the best way to prevent extensive water damage.

    System Components

    • Leak Stop+ brass valve — sized to match the existing supply line; ANSI/NSF 372 approved, full-flow, forged brass, 400 psi CWP.
    • Leak Stop+ electric control box with attached moisture sensors — 12 VDC (includes 120 VAC adapter), 2 moisture sensors with 10-ft cords.

    Optional Accessories

    • SmartConnect — 24/7 control and access via the WaterCop app, mobile alerts for automatic closure and power outages, Wi-Fi compatible.
    • RS100 Wall Switch — convenient wall-mounted water shut-off with color-coded LED valve position indicator lights.

    Repair parts (available from customer service, 800-545-3636) include the complete control box, replacement brass ball valve, and sensor cord/probe. The unit supports a maximum of 2 sensors.

    Safety Warnings

    • Do not apply electrical power to the unit unless it is fully assembled as shipped — failure to do so could result in personal injury and/or damage to the unit.
    • Disconnect power before working on or servicing the unit.
    • Leak Stop+ must be installed indoors, between 35°F and 105°F ambient. Do not expose to freezing temperatures or extreme heat.
    • The valve closes with great force — keep fingers and objects out of the valve when testing.
    • The case is not explosion-proof; do not install where it could ignite flammable vapors or explosive mixtures.
    • Use a common 120 VAC outlet; do not use extension cords. Install an outlet near the unit, complying with local codes.
    • Always unplug the power cord before opening the case — internal components may be electrified.
    • Adherence to all local plumbing/electrical codes is critical; a licensed plumber may be required in some municipalities.
    • Wear eye protection while servicing the system.

    Installation

    Install the Leak Stop+ indoors, directly into the plumbing supply line just upstream of the appliance or area to be monitored, within reach of a 120 VAC outlet. The attached leak sensor is secured to the floor or catch pan where water would first accumulate — most commonly near a water heater.

    1. Separate the brass valve from the control box by removing the spring clip and O-ring (retain both).
    2. Using compression or sweat fittings, install the properly sized brass valve into the plumbing system, just upstream of the device on the cold water supply, oriented so the homeowner has easy access to the open/close buttons.
    3. Verify the valve and Leak Stop+ motor are both in the OPEN position. The slot in the valve stem should line up with the valve body when open. Apply power — the green light should turn on; if not, press the green button to cycle the unit to OPEN, then disconnect power.
    4. Install the O-ring in the valve flange, mount the Leak Stop+ motor onto the valve, and secure with the spring clip. The control box must be aligned with the valve as shown, with the spring clip firmly seated at all corners.
    5. Plug the unit into the selected nearby 120V outlet.

    Sensor Placement

    Place the sensor probes flat on the floor or pan under the monitored appliance, in the areas where water would first accumulate. Avoid letting tape/adhesive touch or block the gold pins, and avoid contact between the gold pins and metal or other conductive surfaces (this can cause false alarms).

    System Operation

    The Leak Stop+ constantly monitors the selected area for accumulating moisture. When water contacts a sensor probe, the control box closes the valve, shutting off the local water supply. The valve stays closed until manually reset via the green button, wall switch, or SmartConnect app. Lights indicate valve position (Red = Closed, Green = Open). The valve can also be controlled manually via the open/close buttons independent of a leak event. The unit requires an uninterrupted 120 VAC household outlet — during a power failure, the valve remains in its current position.

    Alarm Output Wiring

    Leak Stop+ provides two alarm relay connections (dry-contact closure or 12 VDC signal) to report valve position, selectable via jumpers JP1 (dry contact) or JP2 (12 VDC live signal). When water is detected, the valve closes, the audible alarm sounds, indicator lights show CLOSED, and the alarm relays activate — this can trigger an auxiliary device such as a buzzer or light. A relay wire (12 VDC) is energized whenever the actuator is powered and closed; make connections to the relay coil terminals before energizing the actuator. To silence the alarm, press any button on the actuator face.

    Initial and Periodic Testing (recommended monthly)

    1. Verify the valve is plugged into a grounded outlet and powered.
    2. Verify the valve is in the OPEN position (green light illuminated).
    3. Using a wet cloth (not distilled/RO water), saturate the sensor to activate valve closure.
    4. Confirm the valve cycles to CLOSED (red light illuminated). On a water heater installation, additionally verify closure by opening a downstream hot water faucet and watching flow stop (testing a cold faucet will not give an accurate result).
    5. Remove the sensor from the water and dry thoroughly; close any faucets opened during testing.
    6. Press the green button to open the valve and restore water supply.
    7. Repeat for the second sensor, and test the buttons.

    Troubleshooting

    Symptom Checks
    Leak sensor does not detect water Verify power; verify gold prongs make continued direct contact with water; use tap water (not distilled/RO) when testing.
    Red/green light does not illuminate Verify the unit is plugged into a powered, grounded 120VAC outlet.
    Motor does not open/close valve correctly Verify power and correct valve-to-control-box orientation. If solder-connected, check the ball valve seats weren't heat-damaged. If compression-connected, check fittings weren't over-tightened. Remove the control box (retain O-ring/clip), use a flat-head screwdriver in the valve stem slot to verify the ball moves freely, then return the stem to line up with the actuator drive (perpendicular to pipe length).
    Valve doesn't complete rotation / ALARM state Both lights flash, alarm sounds, alarm relay activates — likely a blockage. Silence by pressing any actuator button, then check for valve obstruction per the motor troubleshooting above.

    System Limitations

    This is an advanced automatic water shut-off system, but it does not guarantee protection against every possible water event. It will not detect water intrusion from external sources (rain, storm surge, sewer backup, pool/spa overflow, ice dams, HVAC condensation, etc.), requires power to operate, and is subject to component failure, power surge damage, or valve corrosion/blockage over time. Monthly testing is strongly recommended. This system is not a substitute for adequate homeowner's/property insurance.
