    Full text manual (for reference)

Instruction/installation sheet for the DataComm Electronics 45-0021 Recessed Low Voltage Cable Plate with Recessed Power — used to route power and low-voltage cables behind a flat-panel TV, amplifier, or other AV device. Can be installed upright or upside down, for retrofit or new construction.

Installing with a Flat Panel TV Bracket

    1. For retrofit work, determine the location of the flat panel TV mounting bracket. Using the supplied template, trace the opening needed and cut a hole in the drywall to size with a drywall knife.
    2. Insert a single-gang retrofit workbox and securely fasten it to the wall.
    3. Switch the appropriate circuit breaker OFF (or remove fuse(s)) before wiring.
    4. Run a source of power to the workbox. Connect the hot (black) wire to the brass-colored terminal, the neutral (white) wire to the silver-colored terminal, and the grounding (green or bare) wire to the green terminal screw. For shock protection, this UR/UL-recognized receptacle must be properly grounded — use copper wire only.
    5. Insert the receptacle portion of the plate into the retrofit workbox; once flush with the wall, secure it with the two supplied white screws.
    6. Screw down the wing screws so they fasten tightly against the back of the drywall.
    7. Switch the circuit breaker back ON (or reinsert fuse(s)). Plug in all necessary video and audio cables, then install the flat panel TV mounting bracket per its own manufacturer instructions.

For new construction installations, use a new nail-on box and follow all other steps the same way.
