    Installation instructions for DataComm Electronics' 1x8 Telephone Module (Part # 80-0070) — a punch-down telephone distribution module for structured wiring enclosures.

    Tools Required

    • Impact punch-down tool with 110 blade

    Installation

    1. Align the mounting pins of the Telephone Module with the holes in the back of your telecommunication enclosure and lock the Telephone Module into place.
    2. Install the cable from the telephone company demarcation point to the 110 IDC connector marked LINE IN.
    3. Install twisted pair cables from each location in the house to the remaining 110 IDC connectors, matching the color-coding of the wires to the colors on the connectors.
    4. Punch the wires down to the 110 IDC connectors using an industry-standard punch-down tool. Use the T568A wiring configuration.
    5. Line assignment: Line 1 is Blue, Line 2 is Orange, Line 3 is Green, and Line 4 is Brown.

    Note: The RJ31X port is used to install the security line.

    Safety Warnings

    • Never install low voltage wiring during lightning storms.
    • Never install low voltage wiring in wet locations unless the wire is specifically designed for wet locations.
    • Never touch un-insulated low voltage wires or terminals unless the wire has been disconnected at its source.
    • Do not use this product near water — e.g. near a bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, laundry tub, in a wet basement, or near a swimming pool.
    • Consult and comply with local building and electrical codes before and during installation of any equipment.
    • Never push objects of any kind into this product through cabinet slots, as they may touch dangerous voltages.
    • Use caution when installing low voltage cables. Read and understand all instructions, and save these instructions.
    • Only licensed professionals should install this product.
