Overview

The Quattro 4L is a Bluetooth communication system worn around the neck like a pendant. It connects to mobile phones for clear calls, to music and TV for entertainment, and enables stress-free meetings and one-on-one conversations by delivering sound directly to the ears and significantly reducing background noise.

Safety Warnings

• Use the equipment only as described to avoid bodily injury or equipment damage.
• Keep away from water and damp areas (pools, bathtubs, sinks, damp basements); do not use while wet, to avoid electrical shock.
• Do not overload extension cords or power strips.
• Avoid use during an electrical storm.
• Use only the supplied AC power adapter assembly — other adapters can damage the unit and cause injury.
• The Quattro 4L can amplify volume enough to cause hearing loss — instruct users on proper adjustment and keep the volume low when not in use.
• Do not spill liquid on the unit or clean it while plugged into AC power (risk of short circuit, fire, or shock).
• Do not insert objects into the unit or attempt to disassemble it.
• Keep out of reach of small children.
• Contains a magnet that may affect pacemakers — check with your device provider if you wear one.

Cautions

• Unshielded electronics (PCs, automobiles, large-screen TVs) may cause EMI buzzing or odd sounds.
• Turn off in facilities that post such notices (hospitals/health care facilities) and onboard aircraft per airline regulations.
• If you use a personal medical device, confirm adequate RF shielding with the manufacturer.
• Avoid dropping the unit or exposing it to excessive moisture, sweat, humidity, or steam.
• Connect the AC adapter to a surge protector.
• Clean only with a cloth lightly dampened in mild soap and water — no harsh chemicals or abrasives.
• Contact customer service if liquid spills occur, performance changes, or the unit is dropped/damaged.

Getting Familiar with the Unit

• Earbud jack: Accepts any 3.5mm audio-only headset (SmartSound Ear Buds recommended)
• Charging port: For the micro-USB charging cable
• MFB (Multi-Function Button): Initiates/answers calls, powers the unit on/off, pairs Bluetooth devices, switches between calls, and activates Siri/S-Voice
• MFK (Multi-Function Key): Answers/ends calls, pauses/plays music; press twice to activate voice control for a second paired device
• Volume & scroll keys: Adjust volume or skip forward/backward during music playback
• 8-wire neckloop: Delivers sound directly through hearing aids with t-coils when set to the t-coil position
• Battery engage switch (+/-): Must be in the "+" position for the unit to function; used only once to activate the battery from storage

Getting Started

1. Engage the battery: Using a paperclip or pen tip, move the +/- switch on the back of the unit to the "+" position. This is a one-time step.
2. Charge the battery: Connect the micro-USB end of the charging cable to the Quattro 4L and the large USB end to the AC adapter (or a computer's USB port), then plug into an outlet. Fully charged when the indicator light turns blue. Charge nightly for best performance; use a surge protector.
3. Pair with Bluetooth devices: Up to 2 devices simultaneously.
4. Connect to paired devices.

Wearing and Hearing Through the Quattro 4L

Wear the Quattro 4L around the neck like a pendant. For T-Coil hearing aids or cochlear implants: confirm your device has a t-coil ("t-switch"), then set it to T or MT mode. If you don't have a t-coil-equipped device, use the optional SmartSound Earbuds or another headset via the earbud jack.

Pairing & Connecting

Pairing creates a persistent link between the Quattro 4L and a Bluetooth device (done once). Connecting happens automatically afterward whenever both devices are on, within 33 feet, and Bluetooth is enabled.

To Pair a New Device

1. Power off the Quattro 4L.
2. Put your Bluetooth device into pairing mode (see its own user guide).
3. Press and hold the MFB — you'll hear "Power On," keep holding until "Pairing" is announced.
4. Once paired and connected, the Quattro 4L appears in your phone's Bluetooth device list.

To Pair an Additional Device

1. Power off the Quattro 4L (hold MFB until "Power Off" is announced) and keep it off until the new device is in pairing mode.
2. Repeat the pairing steps above.

Breaking the Bluetooth Connection

You may want to disconnect a device without un-pairing it — for example, to free up a connection slot (only 2 devices connect at once), or because you're connected to the wrong device. To disconnect: turn the Bluetooth device off (it will reconnect automatically when powered on again within range), or turn off Bluetooth in the device's settings (it will reconnect automatically when Bluetooth is re-enabled within 33 feet).

Voice Control

If your smartphone supports voice control (Siri, S-Voice), press MFB twice (or MFK twice if it's the second connected device) to activate the phone's voice control screen and speak into the Quattro 4L.

Calling

• Adjust volume during a call: Press the volume keys on screen (15 levels; the last level used is remembered).
• Mute/unmute: Press and hold the mute key on screen — announces "Mute On"/"Mute Off."
• End a call: Press and hold the MFB — announces "Call Terminated."
• Place a call by dialing from the phone: Dial normally; ringing plays through your hearing device/earbuds.
• Redial last number: Simultaneously press and hold MFB + the redial key, then press MFB — "Dialing" is announced.
• Answer a call: Press MFB once to connect.
• Reject a call: Press and hold MFB — announces "Call Rejected" and sends the caller to voicemail.

Call Waiting

1. Tell the current caller you'll put them on hold.
2. Press MFB twice to answer the incoming call.
3. Press MFB twice again to switch back to the first caller (second stays on hold).
4. Press and hold MFB to switch between callers and end the current call.

Transferring a Call Between Neckloop and Phone

Press and hold the right arrow key during a call until you hear a tone — the call becomes active through the Quattro 4L. You can also switch using your phone's own controls.

Listening to Music, Videos, and Audio Books

1. Pair and connect your Bluetooth device.
2. Set your hearing aid/CI to T or MT mode, or plug in earbuds.
3. Open your music/audio app and select content.
4. Hit play on the Bluetooth device.

Intercom Feature

Two Quattro 4L devices can intercom directly with each other within 33 feet — useful when two people with hearing loss are in a noisy environment.

1. Disconnect any devices currently connected to either Quattro 4L.
2. Power off both units.
3. Press and hold MFB on both until you hear "Pairing" (red/blue indicator flashes rapidly).
4. On only one unit, press MFB once — "Searching for Quattro" is announced.
5. When found, "Paired" is announced.
6. Double-tap MFK on either unit — after about 5 seconds, "Connected" is announced and intercom is active.
7. To end, press and hold MFB on either device.

Once intercom-paired, simply double-press MFK on either device to reconnect in the future.

Resetting the Quattro 4L

Resetting returns the device to factory settings, deleting all Caller ID records and paired devices, and resetting volume to default. Only reset if loaning or receiving the unit from someone else.

1. Press and hold MFK until the blue indicator lights for about 1.5 seconds, then flashes every second.
2. The unit stays powered on; all pairing and Caller ID memory is erased.

Warranty

One-year limited warranty from date of purchase against manufacturing defects in material and workmanship under normal use. Return the unit with proof of purchase to ClearSounds Communications for repair or replacement (with a refurbished unit or unit of equal condition), returned via ground shipping at no cost. Replacement/repair is warranted for 90 days or the remainder of the original period, whichever is longer.

Excludes accidents, negligence, breakage, shipping damage, misuse, fire, floods, incompatible accessories, Acts of God, or carrier service failures. Tampering by anyone other than an authorized ClearSounds representative voids the warranty. Obtain an RMA number before shipping any product back — unauthorized returns will be refused and returned at the sender's expense.

• Bluetooth: A wireless protocol defining data exchange between compatible devices over distances up to 33 feet.
• Connectable: A Bluetooth device in range that will respond to another device and set up a connection.
• Connected: A Bluetooth device is within range and actively communicating; the LCD shows the device's name.
• Discoverable: A device other Bluetooth devices can detect, pair, or connect to.
