Complete user's guide for the ClearSounds CSIR2012 Wireless Infrared Home Audio Headset System, a TV/audio listening solution with a built-in Digital-to-Analog Converter.
Complete user's guide for the ClearSounds CSIR2012 Wireless Infrared Home Audio Headset System — a TV/audio listening solution with a built-in Digital-to-Analog Converter.
The CSIR2012 uses infrared technology — considered the clearest method for wireless sound transmission — paired with lightweight headphones. It lets you listen to a TV, stereo, radio, or other audio source at your own comfortable volume without disturbing others in the room. It's especially useful for hard-of-hearing users or anyone watching TV while someone nearby is sleeping.
The included IR transmitter has a built-in Digital-to-Analog (D to A) Converter, so it can be installed on any television, including flat-screen and plasma sets. You can also plug external speakers into the transmitter for full-room sound directly from the TV.
The transmitter sits on the audio source (TV/VCR, cable box, stereo, etc.) and transmits an audio signal via infrared light. The receiver built into the headphones captures the infrared light and converts it back into sound; the volume is adjusted on the cordless headphones. Multiple headphones can be used with a single transmitter. As a stand-alone D-to-A converter, you can also plug a digital audio source into the optical or coax inputs and convert it to analog output (3.5mm) for any analog speaker system.
First, for all installations, plug the AC/DC transformer into the DC 12V input on the back of the transmitter, then plug the transformer into an electrical outlet. There are three connection options, depending on your TV's output jacks. Connect to whichever device is connected to the incoming cable line — this could be the cable box, DVD player, or the TV itself.
The CSIR2012 transmitter can act as a stand-alone Digital-to-Analog Converter — useful if you have a digital TV and want to plug analog external speakers into it for room-filling sound. First attach the transmitter to your TV using either digital input option above, then use the RCA cable: plug the 3.5mm end into the transmitter's 3.5mm Audio Out jack and the red/white RCA plugs into the back of your speaker.
For best results, place the transmitter above the TV or other audio source. It works best within 33 feet (about 10 meters) of the headphone receiver, with nothing obstructing the infrared light path.
Insert two AAA batteries into the compartment in the left earpiece, matching polarity. Turn on the headphones with an unobstructed line of sight to the transmitter, then adjust TV and headphone volume to a comfortable level.
Many TVs have a speaker switch on the back panel — set it to OFF to listen exclusively through the headphones. Some TVs control this only via remote: press Menu, locate SPEAKER in the on-screen menu, and switch it OFF. Consult your TV's owner's manual if needed.
The CSIR2012 headset can also be used to listen to a cell phone or MP3 player using the 3.5mm cable: plug one end into the headset (output) jack on the phone/player and the other end into the 3.5mm jack on the headset.
