    September 08, 2026 3 min read

Installation instructions for the Chief Medium Swing Arm Wall Mounts (TS318SU, TS318TU, TS325TU) — full-motion display mounts supporting up to 75 lb.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Installation instructions for the Chief Medium Swing Arm Wall Mounts — models TS318SU (single stud), TS318TU (dual stud), and TS325TU (dual stud) — full-motion display mounts supporting up to 75 lb (34 kg).

    Safety Warnings

    • Exceeding the weight capacity can result in serious personal injury or equipment damage — the installer must ensure the combined weight of all attached components does not exceed 75 lb (34 kg).
    • Use this mounting system only for its intended purpose; do not use attachments not recommended by the manufacturer.
    • Never operate a damaged mounting system — return it to a service center for examination and repair.
    • Do not use this product outdoors.
    • The structure the mount attaches to must support five times the combined weight of all equipment — reinforce the structure as needed before installing.
    • Drywall restrictions: for the TS318SU on poured or hollow concrete, the wall cannot have any drywall covering. For TS318TU/TS325TU, poured concrete requires no drywall covering, while hollow concrete block allows up to 5/8" (1.6cm) of drywall. Never install drywall anchors into the seam between drywall pieces.

    Installation Overview

Full illustrated, hardware-by-hardware steps (with figures for each screw and bracket) are in the downloadable PDF. High-level sequence:

    1. Mount the wall plate. For dual-stud models (TS318TU/TS325TU), attach the wall rail to studs (or concrete anchors) using the included lag screws and installation spacers, leveling it carefully, then slide the main assembly onto the rail and secure the lower mounting holes. For the single-stud model (TS318SU), hang the main assembly directly onto a lag screw via its key-shaped mounting hole, then secure the lower hole.
    2. Attach the display. If your display's VESA hole pattern is 100x100, 100x200, or 200x200mm, it mounts directly to the faceplate — no interface bracket needed. Otherwise, install the interface bracket (uprights P and Q, top/bottom interface supports) to the back of the display first, selecting the correct screw diameter/length and spacers for your display's mounting holes, then hang the bracket-and-display assembly onto the wall plate's teardrop grooves and secure with flange nuts.
    3. Manage cables. Open the cable management covers on the upper and lower swing arms, route cables along the arms (optionally securing with cable ties through the built-in tie holes), then close the covers.
    4. Fine-tune the fit. Adjust height via the hex-key height adjustment screw, roll via the roll tension screw, tilt friction via the side tilt screws, and (dual-stud only) lateral shift position via the wall rail's lateral shift screws. Arm tension is adjustable at four points using a 1/4" hex key. To create more clearance between the display and wall, swap in the included 1" knob assembly for the stock 1/2" knob on the center support.
    5. Finishing touches. Snap the wall rail covers or lag screw cover into place, and optionally apply the included adhesive strips over the interface bracket's exposed uprights for a cleaner appearance.
