Overview

Installation instructions for the Chief® JWDIW Series Medium Flat Panel In-Wall Swing Arm Mount. This accessory attaches to a previously-installed Chief MAC501 In-Wall enclosure and provides a swing-arm display mount with adjustable pivot, roll, pitch, and yaw tension.

Important Warnings

• Structural strength: the wall structure must support 5 times the combined weight of all mounted equipment; reinforce as needed before installing.
• Weight limit: the combined weight of all components attached to this accessory must not exceed 75 lbs (34 kg).
• Improper installation can cause the mount or display to fall, resulting in severe injury or equipment damage. Do not deviate from these instructions or substitute hardware.
• Contact Chief Customer Service at 800-582-6480 or www.chiefmfg.com with any installation questions, or if the MAC501 base isn't already installed.

Installation Steps

1. Install the Bumper

1. Install two bumpers onto the bumper mounting bracket.
2. Secure the bumper mounting bracket to the MAC501, on whichever side the swing arm will retract toward, using two Phillips pan head screws.

2. Attach the Swing Arm to the MAC501

The MAC501 accommodates 4-1/2" of right or left display offset by aligning the swing arm with either the right- or left-hand mounting holes.

1. Align the bottom of the swing arm pivot pin with the hole in the lower support plate.
2. Lower the swing arm until the pivot pin rests in the hole.
3. Align the four mounting holes in the swing arm mounting bracket with the four mounting holes in the MAC501.
4. Secure the swing arm to the MAC501 using four button head cap screws, four lock washers, and four flat washers.

3. Display Installation

Note: if your display has a 100×100 VESA mounting pattern, no interface bracket is required — mount directly to the Centris cup. Otherwise, use the appropriate interface bracket kit.

1. Start two M4 × 8mm Phillips pan head screws into the upper mounting holes of the display back, leaving at least 1/8" of each screw protruding.
2. Align these two screws with the upper mounting holes in the Centris cup and lower the display until the screws seat in the teardrop-shaped mounting holes.
3. Install two more of the same screws through the lower mounting holes in the Centris cup into the display back.
4. Tighten all hardware.
5. Route cables and wires to the display.

4. Cable Management

1. Attach all cables to the display, leaving adequate slack for movement.
2. Carefully insert cables into the cavity in the lower portion of the mount arm.
3. Install the cover with two screws.

5. Optional Trim Installation

1. Affix three tape squares to the inside lower flange of each trim piece.
2. Orient the trim pieces as directed.
3. Remove the paper backing from the tape squares and press the trim against the inner wall of the box.

Adjustments

• Swing arm pivot/swing tension: use a 3/16" hex key to slightly loosen or tighten the adjustment screw(s) as needed.
• Display roll, pitch, yaw tension: disconnect all cables, remove the two lower screws securing the display, loosen the two upper screws, lift the display away from the mount, then use a hex key to turn the tension adjustment screw clockwise (increase tension) or counter-clockwise (decrease tension). Re-install the display.

Warnings During Display Installation

• Using screws of improper size can damage your display — screws should thread easily and completely into the display's mounting holes without excess length.
• Inadequate thread engagement may cause the display to fall — only back out screws as far as necessary to install the Centris cup.
