  • Channel Vision IR-1203 — IR Repeater Hub Instructions

    September 08, 2026 2 min read

Instruction manual for the Channel Vision IR-1203 IR Repeater Hub.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Instruction manual for the Channel Vision IR-1203 IR Repeater Hub — a 4-output infrared repeating hub for whole-house remote control systems.

    What's Included

    • IR-1203
    • Power supply

    Features

    • 4 IR emitter outputs
    • Status LEDs for power and IR signal indication
    • Screw terminal or mini-plug connections for IR receivers
    • Easily mounts to any flat surface

    How IR Repeating Works

An IR receiver is wired to the IR hub, which routes the signal to IR emitters. Point a standard IR remote control at the IR receiver; the emitter repeats the IR signal in front of the target component (e.g., a CD player or TV). Be sure the emitter is attached directly over the component's IR sensor — to locate it, shine a flashlight into the unit and look for the sensor window.

    Wiring IR Receivers

Two valid connection methods for IR receivers:

    • Method 1: Use the 3-wire screw terminal connections as shown in the "Typical Application" diagram.
    • Method 2: Use the direct plug-in cable provided with the IR receiver.

To simplify wiring multiple receivers, a connecting block such as the Channel Vision C-1201 (not included) provides connections for up to 8 IR receivers feeding into a single IR-1203. Connect all Signal (S), Ground (G), and +V leads together; up to 8 receivers may be connected this way.

    Expansion

Multiple IR-1203/IR-2103 hubs can be linked via a standard stereo mini-plug cable, with one power adaptor able to power every 2 units. Using the IR-3002 emitter expansion, up to 32 IR emitters can be controlled from an expanded system. In an emitter expansion configuration, only Signal (S) and Ground (G) need to be connected between hubs.
