Overview

The Channel Vision A4601 / A4601R is a 4-input, 6-output A/V matrix controller for whole-house audio/video distribution. Any of the 4 source inputs can be routed independently to any of the 6 output zones, controlled via an IR repeating keypad (such as the A0127, sold separately). The A4601R adds a rack-mount faceplate for standard 19" equipment racks. It pairs well with a multichannel audio amplifier such as the Channel Vision A1260.

Controlling the A4601

Control is accomplished through an IR repeating device such as the A0127 keypad, which already contains the IR codes needed to operate the A4601. Alternatively:

• Use a standard IR receiver with a learning remote programmed with the A4601's IR codes (downloadable from channelvision.com or remotecentral.com, Philips Pronto-compatible; hex codes also available).
• Use the A0501 remote control to operate the A4601 without touching the A0127 buttons directly — point it at the IR sensor on the bottom of the A0127.
  • Zone Power: turns the current zone on/off
  • Power: master power, turns all zones on/off
  • Source buttons (1-4): select input source for the zone
  • Mute: mutes audio for the current zone
  • VOL +/-: controls volume for the current zone

How IR Repeating Works

Point any IR remote at an IR receiver (such as the A0127). The Pwr button on the A0127 flashes as it receives the IR signal, then repeats/flashes that IR command out to the source component in the equipment closet (via an IR-3002/IR-3003 flasher head attached directly over that component's IR receiver window).

Wiring the A0127 Keypad

Keypads connect to the A4601 via RJ45 jacks on the rear panel, or via the screw terminals on the back of the keypad. When wiring via RJ45, use the TIA568A standard on both ends. When using screw terminals on the A0127, wire the RJ45 plug (connecting to the A4601 side) as follows:

• Pin 8: +VDC
• Pin 4: IR signal
• Pin 7: Ground

Connecting a standard 3rd-party IR repeater instead of the A0127: the wiring is similar but only three wires are needed (+VDC, Ground, IR signal on the same pin assignments as above). Note: not all IR receivers use the same pin order — confirm before wiring.

A4601 Rear Panel Layout

• 6 output zones (Control 1–6): each with R-Audio-L, Video, and RJ45 keypad connector
• 4 global/local inputs: R-Audio-L and Video in, with a GLOBAL/LOCAL switch per input
• Video-in termination: Hi-Z / 75Ω switch — use the dip switch to enable Hi-Z mode on an input when splitting a video signal from a source across multiple destinations
• IR emitter outputs for connecting IR-3002 flashers, enabling remote-room IR control of source components
• Power switch and 115/230V voltage selector switch

Compatible Accessories

• A0127 — IR repeating keypad, preprogrammed for the A4601; can teach its commands to a learning remote.
• AB-500 — Universal remote control; learns IR codes for up to 6 sources.
• IR-3003 / IR-3002 — Single- and dual-head IR flashers; use one head per source to control components from a remote room.
• A0501 — Handheld remote for zone power, source selection, volume, and mute.
• A1260 — Recommended multichannel audio amplifier companion.

Warranty

Channel Vision Technology will repair or replace any defect in material or workmanship occurring during normal use, with new or rebuilt parts, free of charge in the USA, for two years from the original purchase date. No mail-in warranty card required. Excludes shipping damage and failures from misuse, abuse, alteration, or third-party products.
