    Instruction manual for the Channel Vision 6822-W high-resolution 960H Varifocal Eyeball Dome Camera — an outdoor security dome camera with IR night vision, RS-485 PTZ control, and an on-screen setup menu.

    • Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel; service is required if the unit has been damaged, exposed to moisture, doesn't operate normally, or has been dropped

    Tools/accessories required but not included: 12VDC power supply (400mA or higher), Allen wrench, wire stripper, small flathead screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver.

    Installation

    The camera connects via a joystick control (for OSD setup, located on the camera pigtail), an RS-485 connection to a PTZ controller, a BNC video connector to a monitor or video distribution device, and a 2-conductor power supply extension. Use crimp-on splice connectors for extending power/video runs as needed (not included).

    OSD Setup Menu

    Enter OSD programming mode by pressing in on the joystick. Navigate with the joystick (left/right/up/down) to change values or enter submenus; press "Exit"/"Return" to go back one menu level.

    Lens/Auto Iris Adjust auto iris behavior and how it responds to light; manual mode allows opening/closing the iris and adjusting speed
    Shutter/AGC High Luminance: Shutter + Auto Iris or Auto Iris only. Low Luminance: AGC on/off, brightness x0.25–x1.00
    White Balance Adjust speed, delay, ATW frame (x1.00–x2.00); select indoor/outdoor environment mode
    Backlight HLC (High Light Compensation) reverses bright points to black; BLC (Back Light Compensation) auto-adjusts brightness for backlit subjects
    Picture Adjust Mirror image; adjust brightness, contrast, sharpness, hue, and gain
    D-WDR Digital Wide Dynamic Range on/off — clearer images under mixed bright/dark lighting
    Motion Detection Turn motion detection on/off
    Privacy Block out selected portions of the image from view
    Day/Night EXT1/EXT2 (reserved), Black & White, Color, or Automatic (recommended — switches to B&W for IR illumination at night)
    NR (Noise Reduction) Adjust Y/C noise reduction values to reduce "snow" in the video image
    Camera ID Display an on-screen camera ID label alongside the video image
    Language Chinese, English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese

    Troubleshooting

    Symptom Steps
    No video / video cuts in & out / snow on image / poor quality image 1. Verify power supply is 12VDC with a volt meter. 2. Bypass the coax cable. 3. Verify the camera has power (finger over IR sensor — look for red IR glow). 4. Reset camera to factory default via OSD. 5. Verify the white-striped cable conductor is on the center (+) side of the connector. 6. Check the center pin of the power connector is making contact.
    Video washed out looking at a bright object (light or sun) 1. Turn on HLC in the OSD. 2. Turn on D-WDR in the OSD.
    Video hard to see at night / image not illuminated enough 1. Turn on BLC in the OSD. 2. Adjust brightness in Picture Adjustment. 3. Verify Day/Night mode is set to Automatic. 4. Point camera away from bright light sources (may be shutting down the iris).
