    Full text manual (for reference)

Technical information and instructions for the Bellman Visit Charger (BE1260), a charger for the BE1230 Bellman Visit Pager, for indoor use only.

    Function

The BE1260 Bellman Visit Charger is a charger for the BE1230 Bellman Visit Pager (sold separately). When the Bellman Visit Pager is fitted in the charger, the charger can attract the user's attention via up to a BE1270 Bellman Bed-shaker accessory.

The charger must always be charged for 24 hours when first used or after the internal back-up batteries have run down. The power supply unit should generally remain connected at all times so the internal back-up batteries stay charged automatically. Charging of the pager itself is controlled by the pager and generally takes up to 8 hours — the LED lights green while charging and turns off during trickle charge.

The charger has built-in back-up batteries, automatically charged while connected to mains, which power the vibrator function for a limited time during a power failure.

Important: Only use rechargeable NiMH batteries in the BE1230 Bellman Visit Pager. Non-rechargeable batteries will leak if recharged, and the resulting acid damage to the pager's electronics is not covered by any guarantee.

    Installation & Connection

The Bellman Visit Charger is usually placed vertically on a level surface (using the enclosed support legs) or hung from the wall using the enclosed screw and hanging bracket on the rear of the unit.

It connects to the Visit System via the BE1230 Bellman Visit Pager (separate product). Other products, such as the BE1270 Bellman Bed-shaker or BE1340 Bellman Alarm Clock, can be connected to the vibrator output.

    Controls & Indicators

    1. Vibrator output A
    2. Charger plug
    3. LED
    4. Vibrator output B (also used for connecting the BE1340 Bellman Alarm Clock)
    5. Supporting legs

Neither a radio nor an indicator is built into this product itself — but the BE1230 pager and BE1270 Bed-shaker accessory are connected to the Visit System's signal communications; the Bed-shaker vibrates the same way as the pager and lights the relevant LED via the pager. The pager operates and indicates normally, but will not vibrate while inserted in the charger.

When the green LED (3) is constantly lit, the pager is correctly connected and charging; the LED turns off when fully charged. Charging takes at least 20 minutes.

    Testing

Requires a BE1230 Bellman Visit Pager, a Visit System transmitter, and a BE1270 Bellman Bed-shaker (accessory).

    1. Connect the charger's power supply unit.
    2. When the pager is connected to the charger, the green LED (3) remains lit until the battery is fully charged.
    3. Connect one or two Bed-shakers to the charger.
    4. Press the transmitter test button.
    5. The pager responds by lighting the LED for the transmitter and vibrating the connected Bed-shaker(s).

    Troubleshooting

    Problem Solution
The pager does not charge when inserted into the charger. Check that the power supply unit is plugged in and the pager is correctly inserted. The charger's LED (3) lights up when the pager is properly inserted.
The Bed-shaker does not vibrate during an alarm. Check the Bed-shaker is correctly connected to the charger and the pager is properly inserted. Also check the receiver isn't too far from the transmitter — move it closer.
The BE1340 Bellman Alarm Clock does not activate via the BE9086 External Trigger Cable. Check the alarm clock is connected between its external trigger input (stereo plug) and the charger's vibrator output B (mono plug).
