August Smart Keypad (AKR1) — Installation Guide

Installation guide for the August Smart Keypad (AKR1) — a wall-mounted keypad accessory that pairs with an August Smart Lock via the August app.

Before You Start

Determine your drill bit size using the size/type chart included in the box, based on your wall material.

Installation Steps

1. Remove the back panel. Depress the tab on the back of the keypad to detach the back panel.
2. Mark the wall. Use a level to position the back panel on the wall. Firmly poke a ballpoint pen or one of the included screws through the center of each of the two rubber feet to mark the drill holes — do not drill through the rubber feet themselves.
3. Drill the holes. Use the drill bit size/type from the drill bit chart to drill at the two marked spots.
4. Add adhesive. Peel off one side of the adhesive covering and carefully place it on the rear of the back panel.
5. Attach the back panel to the wall. Firmly affix it using the adhesive, then drive the two included screws through the drilled holes into the wall.
6. Attach the keypad to the back panel. Remove the battery tab from inside the keypad. Hook the top of the keypad onto the top of the back panel, then rock it down until it clicks into place.
7. Set up the keypad in the August app. Go to the lock settings screen, select "Add a Smart Keypad," and follow the in-app instructions to pair it with your August Smart Lock.
