  • ABB-Welcome M2301 — Mini System Controller Manual

    August 31, 2026 3 min read

Installation and operation manual for the ABB-Welcome M2301 Mini System Controller — DIN-rail mounted bus controller for the ABB-Welcome door communication system.

    Full text manual (for reference)

    Overview

The ABB-Welcome M2301 Mini-System Controller is an integral part of the ABB-Welcome door communication system and operates exclusively with components from this system. It handles bus power supply and operating-mode configuration for indoor/outdoor station networks. The device must be installed on mounting rails per DIN EN 500022, by an authorized electrician only.

    ⚠ Safety Warnings

    • Electric voltage — risk of death and fire from 100–240V supply. Work on the 100–240V supply system may only be performed by authorized electricians. Disconnect mains power prior to installation and/or disassembly.
    • Low-voltage and 100–240V cables must not be installed together in a flush-mounted socket — a short-circuit could put a 100–240V load on the low-voltage line.
    • Only install this device if you have the necessary electrical engineering knowledge and experience. Incorrect installation endangers life and can cause serious property damage (e.g. fire).
    • Minimum expert requirements: apply the "five safety rules" (DIN VDE 0105, EN 50110) — disconnect from power; secure against reconnection; ensure there is no voltage; connect to earth; cover or barricade adjacent live parts. Use suitable personal protective clothing and only suitable tools/measuring devices. Check the supply network type (TN/IT/TT) to secure correct grounding/protective earthing.

    Control Elements

    • Bus in/out — connection terminals for the ABB-Welcome system bus
    • Operating mode setting — switch, see Operating Modes below
    • Operating status indicating LED — Ready for operation / Fault
    • Power supply — 100~240V mains input (L, N)

    Operating Modes

    • "One on" mode: On an incoming call, all indoor stations in the same apartment ring together, but only the master indoor station switches on its screen.
    • "All on" mode: On an incoming call, all indoor stations in the same apartment ring AND switch on their screens simultaneously.

Set via the operating mode switch on the device — see the device's mode diagram for switch positions.

    Mounting / Installation

    • The M2301 must be installed on mounting rails per DIN EN 500022 only.
    • Terminate all branches of the wiring system via a connected bus device (e.g. indoor station, outdoor station, system device).
    • Do not install the system controller directly next to the bell transformer or other power supplies (to avoid interference).
    • Do not install the system bus wires together with 100–240V wires.
    • Do not use common cables for door opener connecting wires and system bus wires.
    • Avoid bridges between different cable types.
    • Use only two wires for the system bus in a four-core or multi-core cable.
    • When looping, never install the incoming and outgoing bus inside the same cable, and never install the internal and external bus inside the same cable.

    Environmental Disposal

Used electric and electronic devices must not be disposed of with domestic waste — they contain valuable raw materials that can be recycled. Dispose of at an appropriate collecting depot. ABB products comply with EU-Directive 2002/96/EG (WEEE), 2002/95/EG (RoHS), and the EU-REACH ordinance (EG No. 1907/2006).
