Overview

ABB-Welcome IP is a family of IP-based building communication, access control, and video surveillance systems from ABB, designed for everything from single-family homes to apartment complexes, office buildings, and multifunctional commercial properties. Three fully-integrated systems — ABB-Welcome IP (door communication), ABB-AccessControl (digital locking cylinders), and ABB-VideoControl (video surveillance) — connect over a common IP network to create a unified “smartIP” ecosystem, with optional integration into ABB-free@home® home automation and ABB i-bus® KNX building automation.

The Three Core Systems

ABB-Welcome IP — Door Communication

Outdoor stations used from single homes to high-rises, offices, industrial properties, hotels, and hospitals, featuring HD video communication from outdoor to indoor and indoor to indoor.

ABB-AccessControl — Digital Locking Cylinders

Electronic wireless locking cylinders for quick, easy retrofit onto traditional mechanical cylinders — standalone or integrated into a larger building system via IP.

• Available in multiple lengths/formats: half-cylinder with digital knob (Swiss round), cylinder lock with reader/knob/thumb-turn (Swiss round and European), European half-cylinder, ANSI Mortice cylinder (US), Electronic Cylinder 30/00N SC (Scandinavian), and ANSI RIM cylinder (US)
• Fits EU, US, Swiss, and standard door thicknesses
• Built-in batteries with visual and acoustic low-battery indication and triple-reminder alerts (flash light, app notification, and email)
• DESfire EV1 key fob encryption prevents duplication; real-time cancellation of lost/stolen fobs from management software
• Emergency unlock (administrator only); remote firmware upgrade; IP55 rated
• Scalable via IP-BLE gateway — each gateway manages up to 16 cylinders with no distance/capacity limit for large projects

ABB-VideoControl — Video Surveillance

4MP outdoor IP cameras (Dome, Mini Dome, Bullet, Mini Bullet variants) with encrypted communication and 24/7 recording via NVR.

• Resolution up to 4 megapixels (2x 1080P) for enhanced image detail
• Advanced H.265 encoding saves up to 50% bandwidth and storage vs. H.264
• Supports H.265, H.264, and MJPEG encoding
• IR range from 10m to 50m
• Local and online video storage; remote access surveillance via the MyBuildings cloud portal
• ABB Secure Communication provides PC-level security with data encryption and IP communication verification

Management & Control

ABB-Welcome IP Touch (7" & 10" Panels)

• Available in white or black glossy glass finishes with changeable end strips
• High-resolution display with intuitive sliding-screen GUI
• Only 7.8mm depth when flush mounted; both LAN and Wi-Fi versions available
• Induction loop for hearing aids; multiple installation box options for various wall types
• Home/building dashboard for door communication, video surveillance, and home automation from one screen
• Built-in IP gateway (IPGW) enables direct App integration by entering a MyABB account

Welcome App & Cloud (MyBuildings Portal)

A cloud-based platform (iOS and Android) for local and remote management of all connected systems — no special router configuration required:

• Video surveillance: local/remote live view, record and playback, snapshots, motion detection with instant alerts
• Access control: local/remote door unlock, unlock time display in office mode, guest account creation and sharing
• Door entry communication: unlock, light switching, mute guard calls, volume/ringtone adjustment, internal intercom to the App, SOS, and associated actuator load control
• Compatible with 2-wire analog Welcome systems as well as the IP series — icons and interface adapt automatically
• Configuration mode lets installers scan QR codes to build the floor/building structure for commissioning
• History log review tracks visitor/guest activity with timestamps, stored locally and in the cloud

Property Management Software

• Web-based version runs on the Smart Access Point for small/medium projects (≤500 devices); premium PC-hosted version supports unlimited devices for large projects
• Intuitive drag-and-drop configuration GUI; API for unlock integration with 3rd-party systems
• Manage users, camera view permissions, and device configuration remotely; push firmware updates to connected devices
• 3-step commissioning: set up floor plan, assign devices to locations, combine devices per requirements
• Customizable “When-Then” automation rules across systems (e.g., snapshot on door release) and building-wide messaging to residents or management

IP Guard Unit (Concierge Stations)

• Desktop design with metal/brushed aluminum body and capacitive 7" multi-touch screen (1024 x 600 resolution)
• Hands-free and handset communication; intercom with residents or other guard units
• Unlock all doors or specific doors in an emergency
• Video surveillance via outdoor stations, plus support for community IP cameras and standard ONVIF cameras as additional video sources
