ABB-Welcome IP H8138.K-. — IP Keypad Outdoor Station Manual

Overview

The ABB-Welcome IP H8138.K-. is an IP keypad outdoor station used as part of the ABB-Welcome IP video intercom system. It combines a camera, speaker/microphone, LCD display with ID/IC card reader, and a numeric keypad for calling residents or a guard unit, and for releasing electric door locks.

Safety

• Electric voltage warning: disconnect mains power before installation or disassembly. Work on the 100–240V supply system must be performed only by qualified electricians.
• Video recordings can infringe on personal rights — always observe applicable legal and labeling requirements for placement and operation of video components.

Intended Use

This device is part of the ABB-Welcome IP system and may only be used with accessories from that system.

• Security mode (default): requires a certificate issued by management software before it will function.
• Compatible mode: used if no management software is present; set via the IP touch 7" indoor station.

Installation Overview

Full illustrated mounting diagrams (surface-mounted, flush-mounted with/without pre-installation box, and cavity wall installation) are in the downloadable PDF. High-level steps:

1. Disconnect mains power supply before installation or disassembly — installation must be performed by qualified electrical personnel only.
2. Choose a mounting method: surface-mounted, flush-mounted, or cavity wall installation.
3. Wire the unit per terminal descriptions before final mounting.
4. Avoid installation situations that degrade picture quality: direct light, direct sunlight, extremely bright backgrounds, highly reflective opposing walls, or nearby lamps/direct light sources.

Commissioning

In standby mode, press [#*] + system password + [#] to access the Menu screen. The default system password is 345678 — this must be changed on first access and cannot be reused as the permanent password. Passwords cannot use continuously increasing/decreasing digits (e.g. 123456) or three consecutive identical digits (e.g. 123444).

If an incorrect password is entered 10 times within 5 minutes, no further attempts are permitted for the next 5 minutes.

Key settings menus include: Engineering settings (device type/number, mode select — Compatible vs. Security mode, call mode), Access control settings (public/private password, card enrollment), and System settings (voice volume, key tone, ringtone, date/time, Wiegand bits, default/auxiliary lock assignment, unlock time, alarms, lift settings, anti-flicker frequency).

Operation

Calling a Resident

Outdoor station: in standby mode enter the room number (e.g. 0101), press [*] to end the call. Gate station: enter building no. + room no. (e.g. 020101). If "Call forward" is enabled, calls transfer to the guard unit.

Calling a Guard Unit

Press the guard unit key in standby mode; press [*] to end the call.

Releasing the Lock

• ID/IC card: swipe a registered card near the reader. ID cards: 13.56 MHz, ISO 14443A (EM4100/4205/4305/4450, TK4100, T5567/T5577). IC cards: 125 kHz, ISO 18000-2 (Mifare One S50/S70, Mifare DESFire EV1/EV2). Output format Wiegand 26/34-bit.
• Exit button: press a connected exit button to release the lock.
• Public password: enter [#] + public password + [#] (default 123456; must be enabled first).
• Private password (outdoor station): default lock: [*1#] + room no. + [#] + private password + [#]; auxiliary lock: [*2#] + room no. + [#] + private password + [#].
• Private password (gate station): default lock: [*1#] + building no. + [#] + room no. + [#] + private password + [#]; auxiliary lock: [*2#] + building no. + [#] + room no. + [#] + private password + [#].

If an incorrect password is entered 10 times within 5 minutes, the system locks out further attempts for 5 minutes.

FCC Compliance

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules (Class B digital device). Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment. If interference occurs, try reorienting/relocating the receiving antenna, increasing separation between equipment, connecting to a different outlet circuit, or consulting a technician.

Cyber Security

• The device must be connected to a secure network — the customer is solely responsible for firewalls, authentication, encryption, antivirus, and other protective measures.
• All devices should operate in Security mode by default and be signed by a public CA (typically the management software) at commissioning. Compatible mode leaves data transmission unencrypted and should only be used for legacy device communication.
• Reset the device to factory defaults before removing it from the system to purge configuration and sensitive data.
• Applying MAC filtering and rate limiting on the network switch is recommended to prevent DoS attacks.
• Firmware updates are delivered via management software and verified with a signature file — only ABB-signed firmware is accepted, so the device is not susceptible to malware via custom code execution.
• Engineering password must be changed on first access and follows the same no-sequential/no-repeating-digit rule as other passwords.
