ABB free@home/Welcome 7" Panel — Physical Replacement Step-by-Step Guide

Step-by-step guide for physically replacing an ABB free@home®/Welcome 7" Panel (indoor station) in an existing, fully-programmed installation — either as a physical device swap or to copy a single device's configuration to a new one.

Overview

This procedure applies after a physical panel replacement, and works the same way when copying settings for a single device in an existing project. The advantage: replacing a device in an already-programmed project takes only a few seconds once the physical swap and re-addressing are done.

Physical Replacement — Welcome Installations

1. For safety, disconnect power to the panel first — switch off the corresponding breaker in the fuse box.
2. The panel base can remain mounted on the wall; only the front panel needs to be lifted off.
3. In a Welcome installation, the potentiometers on the back of the housing's upper part must be re-programmed (system addressing):
   • Address of the preferred outdoor station(s)
   • Address of the indoor station
   • Master/slave function
   • Terminal resistor setting
4. Before removing the old panel, write down the exact old configuration or take a photo of the back of the panel.
5. Install the new panel.

Note: To protect the panel from unauthorized replacement, the fuse feeding the Welcome system must be turned off and back on — this is the only way to restore full functionality, including the door handle and door opener.

Programming in free@home® Installations

These instructions apply to a combi actuator and are also valid for the free@home® panel.

1. Go to the main menu and click "Device configuration."
2. Devices present in both the old and new project are listed under the same category, with the count of available devices shown in brackets.
3. The physical device from the previous project shows as "not available."
4. The physically available device for the new project is listed as normal, with no allocations or links yet.
5. Click on the device from the previous project and copy it.
6. In the pop-up window, select the corresponding new device.
7. After selecting the correct "old" device, the new physically available device automatically appears as the target object — finish the copy with the final confirmation.
8. Once all devices in the programming have been replaced, every main menu option becomes available again. All allocations, links between devices, configured scenes, time profiles, and the program panel are automatically copied over.
