Quick start guide for the A&D Medical Premier Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor, Model UB-543.

    Setup

    1. Install the batteries (LR03 or AAA batteries only) into the battery compartment, matching the polarity markings.
    2. (Optional) Set the built-in clock for date/time stamping. Full instructions are in page 8 of the Instruction Manual.

    Taking a Measurement

    1. Sit comfortably on a chair near a flat surface.
    2. With your palm facing upward, attach the monitor to the inside of your left wrist and fasten securely. The top edge of the cuff should align with the crease of your wrist.
    3. Press the START button.
    4. Make sure your wrist is at the same level as your heart — this position is critical for accurate measurement.
    5. The measurement begins 5 seconds after pressing START.
    6. When complete, the systolic and diastolic pressure and pulse rate readings are displayed. The cuff automatically deflates completely, releasing any remaining air.
    7. Check the C.P.G. (Correct Position Guidance) indicator light to confirm proper wrist position was maintained during the reading.
    8. If the position was incorrect, retake the measurement.

    Correct Position Guidance (C.P.G.)

The C.P.G. feature helps ensure the monitor is held level with your heart during measurement:

    Wrist Height C.P.G. Indicator
Lower than heart (low angle) LOW
Same level as heart (proper angle) LEVEL
Higher than heart (high angle) HIGH

After the measurement, the C.P.G. indicator light shows whether the correct position was maintained:

    • Orange light — incorrect position (retake measurement).
    • Blue light — correct position.

    Tips for Accurate Readings

    • Compare blood pressure readings taken at the same time each day.
    • Rest for several minutes before taking your blood pressure.
    • Sit still during measurement — no talking, eating, or sudden movements.
