    August 31, 2026 3 min read

Installation instructions for the 2GIG-TILT1-345 wireless 345MHz tilt sensor, used to monitor garage doors, mailbox lids, pet doors, and hinged crawl-space doors.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Installation instructions for the 2GIG-TILT1-345 F/G Tilt Sensor — a 345MHz wireless sensor designed to monitor the tilt status of a garage door, mailbox lid, pet door, or hinged crawl-space door. When the sensor tilts to 45 degrees, it transmits to the control panel; it also sends a restore signal when returned below 45 degrees. Compatible with GC2 firmware 1.14 and higher.

    Features

    • Cover tamper switch — sends a tamper alert if the sensor case is removed.
    • Low battery monitoring — sends a low-battery report when voltage drops below the prescribed level.

    Package Contents

    • 1 — 2GIG Garage Door Sensor
    • 1 — Sensor Backing Plate
    • 1 — Battery (pre-installed in sensor)
    • 2 — 5/8" Phillips screws
    • 1 — Double-stick tape strip

Tools required: Phillips screwdriver; variable-speed drill with 1/16" drill bit.

    Locating the Sensor

For sectional garage door installation: mount the sensor near the top of the top panel of the garage door, with the mounting plate attached to the top panel and the sensor snapped onto the mounting plate. Confirm the "UP" arrow points up and the tamper tab is on the bottom.

For other applications (mailbox, pet door, crawl-space door): mount wherever convenient, in a vertical position.

    Mounting & Activation

    1. Choose screws or double-stick tape to mount the sensor base. Make sure the tamper tab on the base faces down, toward the floor.
    2. Use the sensor base as a template to mark mounting holes (for drilling) or the tape placement area.
    3. Drill and install screws, or remove the tape backing and press the base in place.
    4. Snap the sensor cover onto the base, aligning the tamper tab on the base with the tamper button on the cover.
    5. Confirm the arrow on the side of the sensor cover points UP toward the ceiling.
    6. Pull out the battery tab insulator to activate the sensor.

To learn how to program the sensor into your control panel, see the panel's own Installation & Programming Guide.

    Replacing the Battery

    1. Remove the Sensor/Cover from the base by pressing a flathead screwdriver into the slot on the side and turning it 90°.
    2. Place a small flathead screwdriver in the slot between the metal clip and the battery, then twist slightly while holding back one of the black plastic edges to release the battery. Dispose of it per local hazardous-waste regulations.
    3. Insert the replacement CR2032 battery with the (+) sign facing up.
    4. Verify programming and RF communication with the panel.
    5. Replace the Sensor/Cover onto the base, aligning the tamper button with the tamper tab.

    Specifications

Typical battery life 5 to 8 years
    Operating temperature 32° to 120°F (0° to 49°C)
    Operating relative humidity 5 to 85%, non-condensing
    Operating frequency 345 MHz
    Tilt switch angle 45 degrees

Avoid mounting in areas exposed to moisture, temperature extremes outside the operating range, or large amounts of metal/electrical wiring (which can interfere with the RF signal).
