    September 08, 2026 5 min read

Quick start guide for the 2GIG RELY security panel and sensor kit — cellular-connected home security with app-based setup and monitoring.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Quick Start Guide for the 2GIG RELY® Security Panel and Kit — a cellular-connected home security system with a companion mobile app for setup and control. Installation and setup: 1, 2, 3.

    Quick Setup — 3 Steps

    1. Plug in your RELY Panel to connect to the Central Monitoring Station Service via cell radio. Remove the Panel from the box, choose an install location, and plug it into a power outlet.
    2. Download the RELY App (Apple iOS or Google Android) for installing each system component, with video tutorials included. Check your email for App download/sign-in instructions, or contact your dealer if you didn't receive it.
    3. Test your system — after logging in, the app walks you through installing and setting up each component.

    System Components

    • RELY Security Panel — can be placed on a flat surface or mounted to a wall.
    • Wireless Thin Door/Window Contact — add sensors to protect additional openings.
    • Wireless Recessed Door/Window Sensor — recesses the sensor and magnet into the door/jamb or window sill to hide the presence of a security sensor.
    • Wireless Door/Window Sensor with Bypass Feature — smallest sensor; push a button to bypass the zone one time (e.g. to let a dog out or open a window without disarming).
    • Wireless Keychain Remote (Fob) — arms/disarms the system with a button press; can be used as a panic alert.
    • Wireless Carbon Monoxide (CO) Detector — detects harmful CO levels and alerts both the system and the Central Monitoring Station.
    • Wireless PIR Motion Detector — alerts the system of motion when armed; ignores small pet movement.
    • Wireless Glass Break Detector — listens for the sound pattern of breaking glass to alert the system.

    Security Panel Setup

Installing Power Cables and Backup Battery

    1. Remove the Panel back plate by lifting the edge of the tab.
    2. Insert the connector end of the power cord into the A/C Power Receptacle, keeping the wire nested in the wire path.
    3. Align the battery power connector with the receptacle in the battery compartment — plug the connector in first, then insert the battery, folding the connector wire into the recessed area before closing the lid.
    4. Reinstall the cover on the Panel and snap it closed.

Mounting on a Wall or Flat Vertical Surface

    1. Select a location near an available A/C power source.
    2. Lift the tab and remove the cover; position it (tab down, inside facing you) on the mounting surface.
    3. Use the 4 holes in the plate as a drilling/anchor guide. Four drywall anchors are included — use a 3/8" bit, not exceeding anchor length.
    4. Drill holes, align the plate (tab down, mounting clips on top), and fasten with screws/anchors.
    5. Install the Panel onto the wall plate by lowering the top back edge at a slight angle over the two clips on top of the plate. Ensure the lower tab snaps into place and the power wire stays in the wire channel.

Mounting on a Desk or Horizontal Surface

    1. Attach the 2 included rubber feet to the Panel pedestal stand (2 spares included).
    2. With the Panel front facing down, insert the lower two pedestal tabs into the Panel slots, then snap the upper tabs into place to secure the pedestal base.
    3. Route the power wire through the opening in the pedestal base.

    System Basics

    Turning the System On/Off

    • Plug in the Panel and use the App to set up each component.
    • Away mode: for leaving the home — all entry and motion sensors activate, with a 60-second exit delay before the alarm becomes active.
    • Stay mode: for staying home — entry (perimeter) sensors are active, motion sensors are not.
    • Turn the alarm OFF by entering your PIN code.

    Panic Button

Press and hold the panic button combination (< + >) for 2–3 seconds at any time (alarm on or off) to sound the alarm and notify the Central Monitoring Station. The Wireless Keychain Remote works within about 50 feet of the Panel — press and hold Away + Disarm together for 2–3 seconds to trigger the alarm remotely.

What Happens When a Sensor Triggers

When armed and an Entry Sensor is triggered, the Panel beeps and prompts for your PIN — you have 30 seconds (the "entry delay") to disarm. If not disarmed in time, the Panel sounds a siren for 4 minutes and sends an alert to the Central Monitoring Station, which will attempt to contact you. Provide your "pass phrase" to cancel dispatch if it's a false alarm; otherwise authorities are dispatched.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Question Answer
How do I move a sensor? Open the front of the sensor (back stays on the wall) and pull DOWN (not out) to remove it. Re-attach in a new location with fresh double-sided adhesive tape.
Battery life? ~5 years for all sensors (Panel warns when low). The Panel's rechargeable backup battery normally never needs replacing.
What if a door/window is open when I arm the system? The Panel warns you; that opening stays unprotected until closed. The bypass feature lets you bypass a zone one time (e.g. to let the dog out) without disarming.
What happens if I accidentally trigger an alarm? Enter your PIN to silence it. Be ready to answer the phone with your pass phrase to verify your identity to the monitoring station.
Can I get a homeowner's/renter's insurance discount? Most carriers offer a discount for a monitored Panel with active Central Monitoring Station subscription — contact your insurer.
Will RELY work during a power outage? Yes — sensors are battery powered and the Panel has a built-in rechargeable backup battery providing 8 hours of power.
How do I avoid false alarms? Give household/service staff their own PIN (via End User Portal), keep motion sensors away from heaters/AC/open windows, contact your dealer for large-pet customization, and ensure door/window magnets sit close to sensor grooves so rattling doesn't trigger them.

    Product Safety

Use only approved batteries and the supplied UL-approved power adapter. Tampering or unauthorized use voids the limited warranty. To prevent fire or shock hazards, do not expose the Panel or components to water or operate while wet/standing in water. Verify equipment operates correctly and can report an alarm immediately after installation, and periodically thereafter. Check periodically that components remain firmly adhered — a falling component could injure a passerby. Keep small pieces (magnets, batteries) away from children — swallowing could be harmful or fatal.
