Installation instructions for the 2GIG-GB1-345 Glass Break Detector — a fully supervised, tamper-protected ceiling or wall-mounted glass break sensor with dual-stage detection, for use with 2GIG Control Panels.

    Overview

The Glass Break Detector offers 15 feet maximum detection range, 360° maximum horizontal sensing angle, and dual-stage glass break detection (thud + crash acknowledgment).

    Box Contents

    • Mounting base
    • Sensor
    • 2 Lithium batteries
    • 3 Phillips head screws
    • 3 Wall anchors (plastic)

Programming (Learning the Sensor into a 2GIG Control Panel)

Scroll between options with the left/right arrows; move to the previous/next prompt with up/down arrows.

    1. Select RF sensor # (01–48) — assign to a new zone.
    2. Select RF sensor type: (03) glass break.
    3. Select RF sensor equipment code: enter 5853 for the Glass Break Detector.
    4. Select RF equipment type: (1) contact.
    5. Enter the RF sensor serial number (7 digits). Manual entry: type the last 7 digits of the TX ID found outside the box or on the back of the device. Auto entry: put the panel in Learn-in mode (Shift then Learn), press the tamper switch, and accept the correct TX ID with OK.
    6. Select RF sensor equipment age: (0) new, (1) existing.
    7. Select RF sensor loop number (1–3).
    8. Select RF sensor dialer delay: (0) disabled.
    9. Construct an RF sensor voice descriptor: press Insert, then a number 002–255 to add a word (e.g. 140 = MASTER, 024 = BEDROOM, to build "MASTER BEDROOM").
    10. Select RF sensor reports: (0) disabled (does NOT report to central station), (1) enabled (reports to central station).
    11. Select RF sensor supervised: (0) disabled (no loss-of-supervision/low-battery reporting), (1) enabled.
    12. Select RF sensor chime: (0) disabled, (1–13) selects a voice/chime tone on activation.
    13. Click Next to program another sensor.
    14. Click Skip, then End and Exit to finish — the panel takes several seconds to reboot.

    Installation

    1. Hold the 2GIG-GB1-345 unit upside down and twist the base counter-clockwise to remove it.
    2. Install the recommended batteries, observing correct polarity.
    3. Wait 5 seconds for the power-up delay.
    4. Enter the programming mode for a wireless device on the 2GIG alarm control panel.
    5. Learn the detector into the Control Panel by pressing and holding the tamper switch for 2 seconds.

    Mounting

    1. Place the detector base on the opposite wall or adjacent wall to the window being protected.
    2. Affix the base using the 3 long mounting screws with the supplied anchors.

Tip: For wall mounting, orient the test button down, nearest the floor. When wall-mounted, the detector is designed to provide coverage on the opposite or adjacent windows — not on windows on the same wall as the detector.

Important: When attaching the detector to the base, match the alignment marks and twist clockwise. If batteries are not present, the red tabs must be held away from the detector.

    Testing

    Walk Test

    1. Push the test button for 2 seconds and release — the red LED appears while pressed.
    2. The green LED blinks once to indicate auto test mode for 90 seconds.
    3. Activate a glass break simulator near the window(s) being protected. The detector first acknowledges the thud sound (green LED), then illuminates the red LED when it detects the crash portion of the glass breaking sound.

    RF Test

Push and hold the test button for 5 seconds and release — the red LED appears while pressed, and the green LED blinks twice indicating RF test mode for 90 seconds.

Note: Perform a full system test (per the User Guide) at least once a year.

    Glass Type / Thickness Compatibility

Minimum glass size for all types is 11" x 11" (28cm x 28cm) square; glass must be framed in the wall of the room or mounted in a barrier of 36" (0.9m).

Glass Type Min to Max Thickness
Plate 1/8 in. to 1/4 in. (3.2 mm to 6.4 mm)
Tempered 1/8 in. to 1/4 in. (3.2 mm to 6.4 mm)
    Sealed Insulating† 1/8 in. to 1/4 in. (3.2 mm to 6.4 mm)

† Sealed insulating glass types are protected only if both plates of glass are broken.

    Battery Replacement

If a supervised detector's battery is low, a low battery notification appears on the Control Panel's touch screen — replace the battery immediately, using only the recommended replacement type.

Remove the cover by twisting counterclockwise, then replace the battery.

Warning: Improper handling of lithium batteries may cause heat, explosion, or fire. Replace only with the same or equivalent battery type. Do not recharge, disassemble, or dispose of in fire. Dispose per local waste/recycling regulations. Keep away from small children; seek medical attention if swallowed.

California only: Perchlorate warning applies to Manganese Dioxide Lithium cells sold/distributed in California — special handling may apply. See dtsc.ca.gov/hazardouswaste/perchlorate.
