End-user guide for the 2GIG EDGE Security & Smart Home System — arming, disarming, safety, and everyday operation.
End-user guide for the 2GIG EDGE Security & Smart Home System — a professionally installed security panel with a large touchscreen, Facial Recognition, Bluetooth disarm, and Smart Home controls. This guide covers general system information, safety precautions, and step-by-step instructions for arming, disarming, and everyday operation. See also the companion 2GIG EDGE Smart Home Manual for Z-Wave device setup and camera details.
| Alarm Status | AC Power LED | Battery Power LED |
|---|---|---|
| System Ready to Arm (all sensors closed) | Solid Blue | Flashing Blue |
| System Not Ready to Arm (one or more sensors open) | Solid White | Blinking White |
| Exit Delay Countdown / Armed | Solid Red | Flashing Red |
| Entry Delay Countdown / In Alarm / Armed After Alarm | Blinking Red | Blinking Red |
NOTE: the Exit Delay countdown is typically 45-120 seconds (installer-configured), beeping faster in the last 10 seconds. If Auto Stay is enabled and no one exits during Away arming, the system automatically arms itself in Stay Mode instead.
If an exit/entry door is left violated when the Exit Delay countdown expires (e.g. the door doesn't close behind you), the panel sounds the local alarm, begins the Entry Delay countdown, and — if not disarmed — automatically transmits an alarm and an Exit Error report to the Central Station.
Requires an active user code. Tap the DISARM button on the Armed (Stay or Away) screen, or align your face within the camera frame for Facial Recognition disarm (move your head slightly side to side).
NOTE: keyfob button behavior is installer-configured and may vary (e.g. it may or may not disarm the system, or may activate a specific type of alarm).
24-Hour Alarm Buttons (Panic, Fire, Emergency) can be shown or hidden on the touchscreen by the installer. When visible, users can manually trigger an alarm. Alarms can also come from a wireless keypad, sensors, or portable devices like a Panic Button Remote.
Fire and gas protection sensors (Wireless Smoke/Heat/Freeze Alarms, Wireless Carbon Monoxide Detectors) protect the dwelling 24 hours a day, unlike burglary sensors which only protect the home when armed. When triggered, the system sounds an alarm and transmits a report to the Central Station.
Weekly testing is recommended. Access via System Settings (requires Master User Code):
A typical residential system combines perimeter protection (door/window sensors with entry/exit delay on main entries and the garage) with interior protection (motion detectors, glass break sensors) and peripherals like a doorbell camera, thermostat, external siren, and remote keypad — configured by your 2GIG alarm dealer to match your home's layout.
This security system cannot offer guaranteed protection against burglary, fire, or other emergencies — any alarm is subject to compromise or failure to warn, for reasons including: signal blockage by metal objects, dead/missing sensor batteries, AC power loss, network or cellular outages, insufficient time to reach a panic button, muffled or unheard alarm sounders, and component failure over time (even though designed to last up to ten years). An alarm system is not a substitute for insurance — homeowners should continue to act prudently and maintain appropriate coverage. The most common cause of a non-functioning alarm system is inadequate maintenance.
