What a Retrofit Actually Involves

1. Remove the old NuTone master station from its wall box — the low-voltage wiring behind it stays in place.
2. Confirm wire count and gauge — most NuTone installs use standard 2- or 4-conductor 18-22 gauge wire, directly compatible with IST stations. Our team can walk you through checking this over the phone.
3. Mount the new IST stations into the existing wall openings.
4. Connect the existing wiring to the new IST terminals.
5. Power up and test — IST master stations run on standard 120V power; remote stations are powered through the intercom wiring itself, exactly like your old NuTone system.
