Instantly receive alerts and hear alarms when smoke or carbon monoxide are detected with the BRK Interconnect Hardwire Smoke & CO Alarm with 10-Year Battery Backup. This hardwired environmental security sensor uses an ionization smoke sensing chamber and an electrochemical CO sensor that work to detect and report the presence of smoke and/or carbon monoxide within a single room. Once a sensor is triggered it will sound an 85 decibel alarm, flash a light, and trigger any connected alarms to also sound off to notify anyone nearby. This sensor includes Smart Interconnect technology which triggers connected First Alert and BRK brand alarms to sound their alarms in tandem with the initial triggered detector. Up to 12 smoke alarms and 6 CO or heat detectors can be paired together in a single alarm network. Only the initially triggered detector will flash its light to signify the source of the alarm.

Interconnect Alarms operate on a mesh network that integrates multiple wireless or wired alarms for better safety and response in an emergency. The mesh network of alarms re-routes and resends the signal via other First Alert alarms, providing a greater chance all alarms will receive the signal. Up to 18 total units can be interconnected, wireless or hardwired: with a maximum of 12 smoke alarms and 6 carbon monoxide alarms. Ordinarily, wireless and hardwired alarms cannot work together on the same interconnected network. However, with the hardwired bridge unit (BRK model SA520B, sold separately), hardwired and wireless models can be interconnected together on the same mesh network.

Installation Details

The BRK Interconnect Hardwired Smoke & CO Alarm mounts either on a wall or ceiling with the included hardware. On ceilings the detector should be mounted as close to the center of the ceiling as possible, or at least 4 inches away from a wall or corner. On walls, the detector's top edge should be at least 4 inches away from where the wall and ceiling connect. The detector should be installed at least 15 feet (4.6 meters) away from any burning heat or fuel burning source to minimize the amount of false alarms.

This model requires a wired power supply. A built-in sealed backup battery will continue to power the detector for up to 10 years during outages. Tamper-resistant locking pins help prevent unauthorized removal by securing the detector to the mounting bracket. It is recommended to have a smoke detector in every room of the building.
