Allows Various Devices To Connect Over Your Home Network

The Global Caché Global Connect GC5 with PoE, HDMI Switch, and Serial allows you to connect HDMI and serial devices to a network. This module provides an HDMI switch and RS232 serial port. It uses Ethernet to connect to the Internet and can be powered via PoE. It includes a 5 Slot, 7.5-inch freestanding chassis and power supply.

Dual Ethernet Network Module

The Dual Ethernet Network Module has 2 Ethernet ports and a power connector. The module supports Power over Ethernet and network switching. Network switching capabilities allow for daisy-chaining of multiple Global Connect units, or connecting Raspberry Pi software to your network.

HDMI Switch (3 input: 1 output)

This module allows your home electronic devices that connect through HDMI (such as TVs or gaming consoles) to communicate with each other over a network. The HDMI switch module allows for network-controlled switching between 3 different sources at resolutions up to UHD 4K at 60Hz via HDMI cables. This module provides 3 in 1 out HDMI switching functions and allows for switching to any one of the 3 HDMI inputs as well as turning off transmission completely from the HDMI switch. The switch can also detect whether the connected HDMI devices are powered on, off, or are in standby mode.

This module also includes HDMI-CEC (Consumer Electronic Control) injection capabilities and support for HDCP 2.2 (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) devices. With CEC control many commands typically sent with a physical remote can be performed over a hard-wired HDMI connection.

RS232 DB9 Connector

This bidirectional module connects RS232 devices to a network and serial devices and includes an easy to use, highly configurable web interface. To access the serial configuration settings, navigate to the Serial Settings page on the unit's configuration pages. Each RS232 interface includes a male DTE (Data Terminal Equipment) DB9 connector.

Installation Details

The Global Connect is a freestanding chassis that can placed on your entertainment stand or in your office or server room. Connect Global Connect to your home network via Ethernet.

Global Caché Global Connect uses an online web tool to set up and configure each module installed in the Global Connect chassis. Additionally, Global Caché has a list of partner apps and software that can integrate with their online web tool and even allow for remote control of your connected devices.

To configure the Global Connect, download and run Global Caché's iHelp program. The program will detect the individual IP addresses for each of the modules installed. Select the module you wish to adjust settings for and apply the relevant changes.
