In addition to providing Bluetooth and Z-Wave control, the wireless remote door lock comes with a separate DoorSense Sensor that enables your lock to know when the door is open and closed. The small, discreet magnetic sensor surface-mounts onto your door frame, or flush-mounts into it, near the Smart Lock to detect whether or not the Smart Lock is near.
The August Smart Lock Pro (3rd Gen) is battery-powered and communicates with smartphones or the Apple Watch via Bluetooth. No power is required for the DoorSense Sensor. The wireless remote door lock can also be included into a Z-Wave automation or security network thanks to its Z-Wave Plus compatibility.
