    Installation guide for the Zipato MicroModule Dimmer (ZPWTMMDIMUS) — an in-wall Z-Wave dimmer micromodule that connects behind an existing 1-Gang or 2-Gang push button switch to add remote and app-based dimming control.

    Overview

    The MicroModule Dimmer is a Z-Wave (868.42 MHz) micromodule rated for a maximum load of 350W (resistive/capacitive). It mounts behind an existing wall switch and connects to the switch's terminal block, letting the existing push button control ON/OFF and dimming while also enabling remote/app control via Z-Wave. It functions as a Z-Wave routing slave — always awake (AC powered) and able to relay messages for other nodes to extend network range.

    Safety Warnings

    • Risk of electrocution: All work must be performed only by trained and skilled electricians, per local electrical code.
    • Always turn OFF power at the circuit breaker or remove the fuse, and verify power is off before wiring.
    • The device has no basic insulation and must be installed in a way that protects against accidental contact.
    • A 6A external fuse must be installed ahead of the red (Live) wire to protect the module from overload.
    • When installing a wall plate, keep at least 4mm clearance between the cover's fixing brackets/screws and the module's connections; use a deeper installation box if needed.
    • Use only insulated tools (e.g. an insulated phase tester) when working on the device.

    Installation Steps

    1. Turn OFF power at the circuit breaker or fuse box and verify power is off before wiring.
    2. Confirm the MicroModule Dimmer's load capacity matches your fixture's requirements (max 350W resistive/capacitive).
    3. For wall installation, wire the module to your existing 1-Gang or 2-Gang push-button switch per the wiring diagrams (red = Live IN, blue = Neutral, black = connection to switch).
    4. Reapply power and test carefully — if the indicator light blinks for 30 seconds then settles into a slow "breathing" pattern, the installation is good.
    5. Turn power OFF again.
    6. Insert the push-button switch together with the MicroModule Dimmer into the switch box, taking care not to pinch or crush wires, then secure with screws.
    7. Reapply power at the breaker/fuse box.

    Wiring reference: connect the terminal block COM/KEY1/KEY3 for a 2-Gang push-button switch, or COM/KEY2 for a 1-Gang switch. Pushing the button controls ON/OFF or dimming as configured.

    Network Inclusion / Exclusion

    • Network Wide Inclusion (NWI): Starts automatically for 30 seconds when the module is first switched ON and not yet part of a Z-Wave network. Ensure your controller is in inclusion mode.
    • Normal include/exclude: Put your Z-Wave controller into include or exclude mode, then press and hold the push button for 1 second and release (Ready-for-learn indication).
    • The module is a Routing Slave — it can relay Z-Wave messages for other nodes, extending network range up to ~150m indoors (limit of 4 hops) from a base range of 30m line-of-sight.

    Configuration Reset

    The MicroModule Dimmer supports a factory reset that defaults all configuration values, activated by sending a Configuration Set command (Parameter 1, Value 0xFF).

    Troubleshooting FAQ

    • Push button doesn't work: Check that the module is completely and correctly wired.
    • Can't include into Z-Wave network: Confirm the controller is actually in include/exclude mode; if the module is already included elsewhere, exclude it first, then re-include.
    • Indicator light doesn't work: Check for a fully wired power connection — the indicator will not light without power.
