Installation and Programming Instructions for the Yale nexTouch Sectional Mortise NTM6 Touchscreen and Push Button Keypad Lock.
Installation and Programming Instructions for the Yale nexTouch Sectional Mortise NTM6 Touchscreen and Push Button Keypad Lock. This is a highly illustrated mortise lockset guide; the page below focuses on programming, factory settings, and troubleshooting — full illustrated mechanical installation steps (handing, drilling, lockbody, escutcheon assembly) are in the downloadable PDF.
Retrofitting or modifying this product may impact fire rating, safety features, and warranty. Consult code specifications to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and ratings.
The hand of the door is determined from the secure side (the side from which you unlock and enter). The RED locking slide should face the secure side of the door. The latchbolt's beveled edge must face the strike — see the full PDF for the latchbolt reversal procedure if needed. A key cylinder is used for cylinder-option installations; a thumbturn is used when the mortise lock is equipped with a deadbolt.
A Master PIN Code must be created upon installation or after a factory reset — the lock cannot be programmed or used until this step is completed.
Max User Codes: 100 without the optional Radio/Network Module, or 500 with the Radio Module installed.
The Master PIN code must be created first.
Warning: Resetting deletes ALL user codes (including the Master PIN code) and resets all programming to factory defaults.
After a reset, creating a new Master PIN Code is the only option available and must be done before any other programming.

To access: touch the screen, enter the Master PIN code, press the gear key. The lock responds "Menu mode, enter number." Key menu branches include:
| Symptom | Suggested Action |
|---|---|
| Lock does not respond (door open, accessible) | Touch with a larger area of the hand (at least 3 contact points); check battery installation/polarity/condition; check touchscreen cable connection. |
| Lock does not respond (door locked, inaccessible) | Batteries may be fully discharged — apply a 9V battery to the touchscreen terminals for emergency power. |
| Chimes on code acceptance but door won't open | Check for another locking device (e.g., deadbolt); check door gaps for obstructions; verify the motor cable is connected to the "MOTOR" PC board terminal; check the locking slide moves freely. |
| Won't automatically re-lock | Check whether Auto Re-lock Mode is enabled; check the low-battery indicator and change batteries if lit. |
| PIN codes won't register | Codes must be 4-8 digits; the same code can't be reused across users; only the Master can manage registration; codes must be entered within 20 seconds; the check/gear keys can't be part of a PIN. |
| "Invalid code" or times out | Check if All Code Lockout Mode is enabled — only the Master can disable it. |
| No sound on operation | Check if Volume is set to Silent. |
| "Low Battery" response | Replace all four AA Alkaline batteries. |
| "Wrong number of digits" | Re-enter 4-8 digits followed by the check key. |
| Won't enter Privacy Mode | Verify it's enabled; check door gap; hold the Privacy Button longer. |
Note: When batteries are replaced on Network Module locks, the real-time clock must be re-verified through the User Interface — especially around Daylight Saving Time transitions.
