    Installation instructions for the WGL V572A X10 RF transceiver module (part of the WG28005 kit), which receives all 256 X10 house code / unit code combinations and relays commands over your household power line wiring via a PSC05 power line interface.

    Installation

    • Connect PSC05 and V572A together with the supplied modular cable — verify the RJ11 plugs snap in place.
    • Connect the power supply to the V572A module via the small "9 VDC" jack.
    • Plug both the power supply and the PSC05 into a pair of 110V, 60Hz power outlets.
    • Connect the antenna and module F connectors using the furnished coax cable. Avoid mounting the antenna near metallic items like heating equipment or other RF equipment.
    • Verify proper operation by transmitting on any house code and unit code that you have an X10 module set to, using the matching button on the palm pad.

    Software Configuration (Optional Filtering)

    The V572A module ships with all house codes and unit codes enabled. To filter or selectively inhibit specific house codes/unit codes, you'll need a PC with Windows 98 or later, a serial port, and the supplied RS232 cable.

    1. Go to wgldesigns.com/v572.html and click "Download Software".
    2. Install the software and run the program "v572.exe".
    3. Set up the Serial Port box by selecting the serial port assignment connected to the module.
    4. Test the assignment by pushing "Apply." A "module not responding" message means you should verify connections and port assignment and try again. "V572 module detected" confirms a successful handshake.
    5. After clicking "OK," push "read V572" — it should respond by showing all check boxes filled, indicating all house code/unit codes are enabled.
    6. Change settings as required — an unchecked box means that particular house code/unit code is disabled.
    7. Once ready, click "loadV572" to load your module with the new filter mask.
    8. Exit the program by clicking the X in the upper right-hand corner.

    Troubleshooting — Status LED

    The V572A features a status LED visible from the bottom of the module, just to the left of the antenna jack.

    LED Behavior Meaning / Action
    No LED The V572A is not running. Verify power supply is the correct type (9VDC, 3.5mm tip positive) and connected.
    Steady LED Everything is working okay. No incoming RF.
    Regular flashing LED No power line interface detected. Check the modular cable and verify correct type, and that the interface is plugged in and connected to the V572A. If still flashing, try replacing the cable or interface module.
    Intermittent flashing, 1-2 seconds off Normal operation — incoming RF detected with an enabled house/unit code. Any X10 module set to this code should operate properly. PSC05 will flash during off periods, sending PLC signals over the power line.
    Intermittent flashing, very short off Incoming RF detected with house/unit codes that are NOT enabled — no signal will be sent over the power line. This code is disabled; configure the V572A as described above to enable it.
