  • TrickleStar TS180SS-US-12CT — Fireproof Surge Protection Power Strip Manual

    September 08, 2026 3 min read

Premium fireproof surge protection power strip with standby-power-saving switched outlets for PC and TV setups, plus phone/fax/antenna surge protection.

    Full text manual (for reference)

    Overview

The TrickleStar TS180SS-US-12CT power strip features high-quality surge protection, EMI/RFI noise filtering, and automatic standby power reduction for TV and PC peripherals. State-of-the-art fireproof metal oxide varistors (MOV) suppress more energy and dissipate heat faster than traditional MOVs, and the ceramic casing helps prevent fire during abnormal surge conditions.

    How It Works

Current-sensing circuitry detects when a connected PC or TV is Off and automatically switches off designated peripheral outlets (printer, speakers, charger, modem, scanner, sub-woofer, DVD player, etc.) to save standby energy. Simple to install and use — typical savings are $38–$50 per year over the product's 10-year lifetime.

    Outlet Types

    • Control Outlet: Plug in your PC or TV here — its power state controls the Switched Outlets
    • Always On Outlets: Stay powered at all times (e.g. router, modem, DVR/Tivo)
    • Switched Outlets: Automatically switch On/Off in conjunction with the Control Outlet device

    Switching Threshold

Adjusts the wattage threshold at which the Switched outlets turn On/Off:

    Setting Threshold Typical Use
    Low 10W Notebook
    Medium 22W PC
    High 42W TV

    Installation Requirements

    • Must only be plugged into a grounded receptacle. Using an extension cord, adaptor, or other power strip in conjunction with the product voids all warranties.
    • All connected devices should be plugged directly into the product.
    • Phone/Fax/Modem lines must be connected through the protected connectors on the product, or the Connected Device Warranty is void.
    • Antenna/TV coax lines must be connected through the protected connectors, or the Connected Device Warranty is void.

    TV Setup (typical steps)

    1. Plug always-on devices (e.g. Tivo) into the "Always On" outlets
    2. Plug in the TV to the Control Outlet
    3. Plug switched devices (amp, subwoofer, games console, DVD player) into the Switched outlets
    4. Connect antenna to "in" and connect "out" to Tivo or Satellite Receiver
    5. Adjust switching threshold — typically "High" for TV applications
    6. Plug the power strip into a grounded receptacle

    PC Setup (typical steps)

    1. Plug an always-on device (e.g. router and modem) into the "Always On" outlets
    2. Plug in the PC to the Control Outlet
    3. Plug switched devices (printer, scanner, speakers, chargers) into the Switched outlets
    4. Connect telephone/modem/router/fax to secondary surge protection
    5. Adjust switching threshold — typically "Low" or "Medium" for notebooks or desktop PCs
    6. Plug the power strip into a grounded receptacle

    LED Indicators

    Indicator Meaning
Ground LED Illuminated = correctly grounded. Not illuminated = grounding problem; contact an electrician.
Surge LED Not illuminated = surge protection functioning normally. Illuminated red = the unit was sacrificed to protect your devices and must be replaced.
Switched Outlets LED Lit = switched outlets are powered.

Resettable Circuit Breaker: Protects all outlets on the product. If no devices are powered or LEDs lit, press the circuit breaker to reactivate power.
