Street Smart Security Code Encryptor II (CE2R) — Installation Manual

The Street Smart Security Code Encryptor II (CE2R) is a wireless remote control receiver that adds keychain remote arming, disarming, panic, and garage door control to compatible alarm panel keypads.

Overview

The Code Encryptor II connects to your alarm keypad's communication bus wires, letting a small keychain remote arm/disarm the panel, trigger panic, and open/close a garage door — all without wiring into the alarm panel's enclosure directly. It auto-detects several major alarm panel brands (Napco, Caddx/GE, FBI) via an LED flash-count sequence, and can hold up to 7 remotes in memory.

Recommended Placement

Choose a central location — customers will want to control the garage door from the driveway and use the remote for alarm on/off at points of entry/exit. Many installers mount the Code Encryptor II in or near the garage for easy access to the garage door pushbutton wiring. Do not mount the control module inside the alarm panel's metal enclosure.

Wiring

Connections can be made at the alarm panel or directly at the keypad. Most garage doors use a two-wire pushbutton connection at terminals #1/#2 (MOM Crusader models use #2/#3) — tie in the red/white and white wires there.

Auto Recognition

1. Unplug the receiver from the wire harness.
2. Wire Red, Black, Yellow, and Green to the keypad per the table above.
3. Power up the alarm panel.
4. While watching the LED on the control module, plug the receiver into the harness.
5. The LED blinks once on power up; after 2 seconds, count the subsequent flashes to identify the detected panel.

Mandatory Programming — Teaching a User Code

The Code Encryptor II must be taught a valid 4-digit user code (3 or 5-digit codes will not work) to arm/disarm the panel.

1. Verify the 4-digit code arms the panel from the keypad; if it doesn't, program it into the alarm panel first.
2. Press and hold the program button on the receiver — the light turns on for 3 seconds, then off. Release the button once the light turns off (it will then flash rapidly).
3. From the keypad, slowly and firmly enter the 4-digit user code (Napco: press ON/OFF to send the code).

Caddx panels must be powered down and back up before this step. Use a code the customer can't easily change — if it changes, the Code Encryptor II will stop working.

Button Functions

Channel 2 — Garage Door Outputs

Pressing button 2 triggers two simultaneous outputs: a momentary contact closure for opening/closing the garage door, and a 500mA (-) timed output lasting 3 minutes (Gray wire) — useful for extending entry/exit delay or triggering entry/exit lighting via a relay or X-10 Powerflash module.

Channel 3 — Configurable Output

A 5-amp Form C relay (Common/N/O/N/C) for accessories like lighting, sprinklers, or X-10 automation. Configure via onboard jumpers:

Panic Mode

Press and hold button 3 for 3+ seconds to trigger panic; press button 1 to disarm. Panic "ON" is the default setting. Napco 1632/3200/9600 panels require keypad #2 panic set to "ON" first.

Adding / Deleting Remotes

Add a remote (Method 1): Disarm the panel, enter 78738 from the keypad (Napco 1632/3200/9600: press ON/OFF to send). The system arms in "Stay" mode; press button 1 repeatedly (up to 4 times total) until it disarms.

Add a remote (Method 2): Press and release the program button on the receiver (light turns on); immediately press button 1 on the new remote three times. Light turns off when learned.

Delete all remotes: Disarm the panel and enter 76278 from the keypad, or press and hold the program button until the light cycles on (4 sec) → off → on again, confirming the memory purge. Then re-add remotes one at a time (up to 7 total).

Troubleshooting

• Button 1 does nothing: Confirm a valid 4-digit user code was taught; confirm the remote is learned into the receiver (listen for a click when pressing button 2).
• No panic on button 3 hold: Confirm keypad panic is programmed "ON" on the alarm panel.
• Unit won't identify the panel: Call technical support.
• FBI panel won't operate: Verify no keypads are set to address #8; enter/exit programming to force the panel to re-poll for keypads and CEII units.
• Napco 1632/3200/9600/P816 remote won't arm/disarm: Verify no keypads are set to address #2; confirm Keypad #2 is programmed to Area #1.
