Installation and operating instructions for the STI-WS107 Inactivity Sensor, for use with the STI Wire-Free Home Protection System.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Installation and operating instructions for the STI-WS107 Inactivity Sensor (Red Shield), designed for use with the Wire-Free Home Protection System Smart Panel.

    Overview

The STI-WS107 Inactivity Sensor triggers the Wire-Free Home Protection System Smart Panel when NO movement has been registered within a monitored area over a set time period (12 or 24 hours). It's designed for situations where movement is expected — for example, monitoring a room where an elderly or at-risk person spends time — and an alert should be raised if that activity stops. Note: keep pets off surfaces above 3 ft (1m) in height, as they may trigger the sensor.

    Kit Contents

    • 1 Red Shield Inactivity Sensor
    • 1 Ball-head joint mounting bracket
    • 3 Screws and wall plugs
    • 1 Instruction leaflet

    Placement Guidelines

    • Mount on a solid surface between 6 ft and 8 ft (1.8m–2.4m) from the floor, where motion is expected
    • Away from extreme temperature sources (radiators, ovens, stoves) and large metal objects
    • Away from direct sunlight; indoors only, not behind partitions

    Installation Steps

    1. Power up: Remove the battery cover, insert a 9V battery, and replace the cover. A flashing RED LED (not counting entry/exit delay flashing) indicates low battery.
    2. Mount: Hold the mounting template against the wall, mark drill points, drill holes, insert wall plugs, and attach the bracket with the provided screws. Attach the sensor to the bracket.
    3. Set sensitivity: Move the jumper in the battery compartment to High (H) or Low (L).
      • LOW: range 22–32 ft (7–10 meters)
      • HIGH: range 49–59 ft (15–18 meters)
    4. Set time interval: Default is 24 hours (jumper in place). Remove the Time Interval jumper to set 12 hours. Keep the removed jumper safe to restore the 24-hour setting later. Any detected movement within the interval restarts the countdown — the Smart Panel is only triggered after a full interval passes with no movement.

House Security Code & Zone Settings

Unless the Smart Panel's factory settings have been changed, the House Security Code does not need adjustment. If it has been changed (e.g. to resolve interference), all system modules — including the Indoor Siren — must match:

    • 4 jumpers/dip-switches per device; plugged = ON, removed = OFF.
    • Default house code (Smart Panel & sensors): 1: ON, 2: ON, 3: ON, 4: ON
    • Default house code (Key Fob Remote dip-switches): 1: ON, 2: ON, 3: ON, 4: ON

Zone Code: Remove the battery compartment cover on the rear of the sensor. The "Zone Code" area has eight pairs of metal contacts numbered 1–8; the jumper across a pair sets the current zone. Default zone code for this sensor: Zone 1.

    Maintenance & Batteries

    • Clean with a soft damp cloth only — no abrasive, solvent-based, or aerosol cleaners.
    • Do not allow water to enter the unit.
    • Insert batteries with correct polarity; don't mix new/old or different battery types; do not use rechargeable batteries.
    • Dispose of batteries via a recycling center — do not burn or place in household waste.

    Alarm System Limitations

No alarm system guarantees 100% protection. Problems can occur if sensors are out of hearing range, placed behind obstacles, if entry points are left unprotected, if the system is deliberately bypassed/jammed, if power to sensors is inadequate, or if sensors are exposed to improper environmental conditions. Test the system weekly — inadequate maintenance is the most common cause of alarm failure. An alarm system is not a substitute for insurance.

    Warranty

    One year limited warranty.
