    STI-9705 & STI-9708 — Horn/Strobe/Speaker Damage Stopper Wire Guard Installation Instructions

    Installation instructions for the STI-9705 and STI-9708 wire guards, which protect fire alarm horn/strobe/speaker notification devices from impact damage and tampering.

    Installation instructions for the STI-9705 and STI-9708 Horn/Strobe/Speaker Damage Stopper® wire guards — protective wire cages designed to shield ceiling- or wall-mounted horn/strobe/speaker fire alarm notification devices from accidental impact damage, tampering, or vandalism.

    Installation Steps (Standard Mount)

    1. Center the wire guard over the strobe.
    2. Place the (4) provided clamps in the recommended position as shown on the guard.
    3. Mark the clamp hole locations on the wall and drill (4) 5/32" diameter holes 1-1/2" deep. If using the provided anchors, drill (4) 11/32" diameter holes 1-1/2" deep instead.
    4. Insert anchors and/or screws and tighten using the provided #10 x 1-1/2" Phillips pan head screws.

    Installation Steps (With Mounting Plate)

    1. Attach the speaker/strobe mounting plate through the holes in the backplate and secure with the (2) provided #6-32 screws to a standard 4" square electrical box. The backplate must be oriented correctly to mount properly.
    2. Attach all wires to the speaker/strobe mounting plate per the device's own installation instructions.
    3. Attach the speaker/strobe unit to the mounting plate per the device's own instructions.
    4. Attach the wire guard to the backplate using the (4) clamps and screws.

    Light De-Rating Factor (Compatible Devices)

    When installed over certain System Sensor horn/strobe devices, the wire guard applies a light-loss de-rating factor to the candela rating. Use this when calculating notification appliance placement per fire code.
