Owner's manual for the Speco Technologies ONSIP O2D4 — a vandal-proof, megapixel dual-codec (H.264/MJPEG) IP camera in a mini-dome housing with bi-directional audio and Power over Ethernet.

Overview

The ONSIP O2D4 is a state-of-the-art megapixel, dual-codec IP/network camera with embedded software and hardware for real-time transmission of synchronized video (up to 1080p) and audio. Remote clients can connect via PC, PDA, or mobile phone. Two-way bi-directional audio is supported for applications like security surveillance, remote monitoring, teleconferencing, distance learning, and environmental observation. The IP-66 compliant housing extends its use to harsh environments, and embedded PoE (802.3af) reduces installation wiring costs.

Also included in the ecosystem: an IP Installer utility to assign IP addresses, and Speco-NVR VMS software to view and record from up to 64 IP cameras simultaneously at D1 resolution.

Connections & I/O

• DC 12V, 2A power input: Do not plug in an active DC power jack while the camera is also powered via PoE.
• MIC/LINE IN: Connect an external audio source or microphone.
• Line Out: Connect amplified speakers; remote-site audio in bi-directional mode plays through here.
• 100Base-T (RJ-45, PoE 802.3af): Status LED (green = normal operation/blinking = someone connected; red = abnormal condition). LINK/LAN LED (orange = network connected; blinking = data transmission; off = connection trouble).
• Alarm In/Out: Relay output (RLY Out) switches up to 30V AC/DC, 2A for alarm devices or remote on/off control of lights — use an additional relay for higher voltage/current loads.
• Sensor In (SNS In): Connects external sensors (infrared, motion, heat/smoke, magnetic, etc.) — type (NC/NO) set in the admin page; multiple sensors can be wired in parallel.
• Factory Default Switch: Located inside the dome cover. Press for a few seconds while powered to restore factory defaults (this erases all settings).

PC Requirements

Quick Installation Guide

1. Connect PC and camera to the network. If your LAN switch doesn't support standard PoE, power the camera via the included DC adapter while networking through the switch normally.
2. Install Speco-NVR from the included CD. Run the IP Installer utility, locate the camera in the device list, fill in the network parameters (Static, DHCP/Auto, or ADSL — with ISP username/password if applicable), optionally enable DDNS with a hostname, then apply the settings. You can jump directly to the camera's admin page from the installer.
3. Connect remotely via Web Viewer — enter the camera's IP address in a browser (default port 80, or specify a custom port like 8080). ActiveX must be installed for video display; installing Speco-NVR from the CD also installs the needed ActiveX module. Default admin credentials: admin / 1234.
4. Or connect via Speco-NVR — use the Camera Assignment button to enter description, IP address, channel, user ID, password, and port, then Save. Click Live View to see the video feed. Default login for exiting Speco-NVR is also admin/1234.
5. Additional configuration is available through the Admin Page at http://IP_address:HTTP_port_number/admin.htm — it's strongly recommended to change the default ID/password to prevent unauthorized access.

Troubleshooting

No Power

• Standard PoE: Requires both the camera and the LAN switch to support IEEE 802.3af.
• DC Adapter: If not using PoE, run power and network via separate cables. Use the provider-supplied adapter or verify a replacement meets the camera's power requirements to avoid damage.

Cannot Connect to Video

Run a PING test from your PC (Start > Run > Cmd > ping [IP address]). A "Reply from ~" response means the network connection is fine — retry the video connection. "Request timed out" indicates a network or cabling issue to resolve first.

Windows Vista / Windows 7

Both OS versions require UAC (User Access Control) configuration for proper recording and still-capture in Speco-NVR and Web Viewer:

• Vista: Control Panel > User Accounts > "Turn User Account Control on or off" > uncheck "Use UAC to help protect your computer." Also right-click the NVR desktop icon > Properties > Compatibility tab > check "Privilege Level."
• Windows 7: Control Panel > User Accounts > "Change User Account Control setting" > set to "Never notify." Also check "Privilege Level" under the NVR icon's Compatibility tab.
